First of all, the Champions League
The European Champions League, referred to as the Champions League, is an annual football match hosted by union of european football associations, which represents the highest honor and level of European club football. It is considered to be the highest quality, the most influential and the highest level club event in the world, and it is also one of the highest prize-winning football and sports events in the world. It is estimated that every game has more than 10 billion TV viewers watching the game via satellite.
The European Champions League was formerly the European Club Cup. 1992/ 1993 UEFA officially revised the competition system and name. After the reform, it still inherits all kinds of records since the establishment of the European Club Champions Cup, and it is not calculated separately. The old name "European Club Champions Cup" still remains on the championship trophy.
Second, the competition system of the European Champions League
The competition system of the UEFA Champions League is divided into three parts: Champions League qualifiers, Champions League play-offs and Champions League matches. Champions League qualifiers include preliminaries, first round qualifiers, second round qualifiers and third round qualifiers. The preliminary round is a single defeat and elimination system, and the three rounds of qualifying are mainly two rounds away. The team with more goals will qualify for the next round.
The winning team in the third qualifying round will enter the Champions League play-offs, and the six winning teams in the play-offs (Champion Road 4 and League Road 2) will participate in the Champions League group stage together with the 26 teams that have been automatically promoted.
The Champions League is divided into group matches, 1/8 finals, 1/4 finals, semi-finals and finals. The group stage is divided into 8 groups, with 4 teams in each group. Each team will play two games against three other opponents in the same group, and the top two in the group will advance to the Champions League 1/8 finals. At the same time, the third place in the group will participate in the UEFA European League knockout play-offs.
In the 1/8 finals, 1/4 finals and semi-finals, each team will play two matches with its opponents, and the promotion rules are the same as those in the qualifying stage and the play-offs. However, teams from the same team and the same association will not meet in the final of 1/8, but this rule is no longer valid from the final of 1/4. The final will be decided by a competition system. If you can't decide the winner in the regular time, you will enter overtime. If overtime is not decided, there will be a penalty shootout.
