May 15 is "National IDD Publicity Day", also known as "National IDD Prevention Day". It was established to raise people's awareness of the harm of iodine deficiency disorders and promote people's health.

1In September, 1993, the State Council held the "2000 National Mobilization Conference for Elimination of Iodine Deficiency Disorders", which proposed May 5th as the National Day for Prevention and Treatment of Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDD), intensified publicity and raised people's awareness of IDD prevention and treatment.
