202 1-07-03 The Origin of the Folk Legend "Zhu Jie Temple" in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province

One of the legends: Zhu Jie Temple in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province is related to Wang Xizhi.

One of Wang Xizhi's great hobbies is beading.

In order to make his fingers flexible and powerful, and increase the momentum of writing, Wang Xizhi wears a crystal pearl with him and holds it in his palm from time to time to touch it back and forth.

One day, Wang Xizhi stood in Chi Pan, rubbing pearls and watching white geese frolicking in the water. Suddenly, the boy informed a monk friend that he had come to visit. Wang Xizhi put pearls on the table and chatted with his monk friends. In the meantime, someone came to see Wang Xizhi, and Wang told the monk to wait and go out to see another guest.

When I came back, the beads on the table disappeared, and Wang Xizhi suspected that it was someone outside the dust. Although it is not convenient to say, his face shows disdain.

Seeing this, the monk felt wronged, but his mouth was indistinguishable and he had to leave disgruntled. ...

The monk was wronged for no reason, so sad that he didn't even want to have tea and rice. Before long, he starved to death in the name of "Hua Zuo".

Unexpectedly, a big white goose in Wang Xizhi's house suddenly fell ill, didn't eat or drink, and died in a few days.

The family was surprised to cut open the belly of the goose and found pearls. It turned out that the big white goose swallowed pearls as feed by mistake that day.

Wang Xizhi is very sad. He felt that he had wronged his monk friend, and his heart was full of regret and grief. It's despicable of him to doubt and hurt his most sincere friend for a vulgar thing. This has also become the most regrettable thing in his life.

After that, he stopped playing with pearls. In memory of the innocent monk, he donated the whole house and pastoral forest to the Buddhist temple, and personally wrote a horizontal plaque "Zhu Jie Temple" for the temple, hanging it on the door to mourn the monk and warn himself.

He converted his house into a "Zhu Jie Temple", saying that he should take the incident of throwing pearls as a lesson, treat his friends sincerely, and don't easily doubt others and let them be wronged.

After Wang Xizhi returned to the west, his son followed Nai's orders and painted himself with wax paint to continue his duties. Nai wax paint is difficult to resist corrosion, and was later replaced by statues, so it is different from other temples.

And the temple was named "Zhu Jie", one is to take "Hokkekyo? In the preface, the Zen meaning of "diligence and purity are like pearls" is to clarify the original intention of becoming a monk.

There is another story about the origin of Zhu Jie Temple, which seems to come from the eleventh volume of Great Compassion.

One day, a monk went to a guard's house to beg for food. At that time, Zhu Shi wore a pearl necklace for the king. Amid the hustle and bustle, the orb was swallowed by a goose at home, and the Buddha's head was in a hurry to find the orb. As there was no one else at home, the monk became the only suspect. After repeated questioning by Master Zhu, the monks refused to admit it. Finally, the monk was tied up and tortured until he was killed. The white goose beside him was accidentally killed by Zhu Shi while pecking at the blood on the ground. Then the monk said, "The orb is in the belly of the goose."

Master Zhu asked him, why didn't you say so earlier? The monk replied, "To save the goose's life. I won't say anything until the goose dies. " As expected, Zhu Shi found the sphere in the belly of the goose, and he felt very ashamed and regretted it.

This story is not as widespread as Wang Xizhi's, but it also illustrates the same truth: treat people sincerely and don't doubt them easily.
