Is it related to Feng Shui that 5 of 6 children have diabetes?

It doesn’t matter

Human life is at stake, so this has little to do with metaphysics. This is a genetic issue. First, let’s understand diabetes. Diabetes is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by high blood sugar. Hyperglycemia is caused by defective insulin secretion, impaired biological action, or both. The long-term high blood sugar in diabetes leads to chronic damage and dysfunction of various tissues, especially the eyes, kidneys, heart, blood vessels, and nerves.

1. Genetic factors

There is significant genetic heterogeneity in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Diabetes tends to occur in families, and 1/4 to 1/2 of patients have a family history of diabetes. Clinically, there are at least 60 kinds of genetic syndromes that can be associated with diabetes. There are multiple DNA sites involved in the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes, among which the DQ site polymorphism in the HLA antigen gene is most closely related. A variety of clear genetic mutations have been found in type 2 diabetes, such as insulin gene, insulin receptor gene, glucokinase gene, mitochondrial gene, etc.

2. Environmental factors

Obesity caused by eating too much and reducing physical activity is the most important environmental factor for type 2 diabetes, making individuals with genetic susceptibility to type 2 diabetes prone to the disease. Patients with type 1 diabetes have immune system abnormalities. Infections with certain viruses such as coxsackie virus, rubella virus, parotitis virus, etc. lead to autoimmune reactions and destroy insulin beta cells.

As can be seen from the above, five of the six children have diabetes. Such a high prevalence rate can basically be judged to be inherited from the previous generation. If you go back and check your family history, you should find that your parents or grandparents have had diabetes in the past.

If there are no diabetics near your home, then the probability that it has something to do with your eating habits is very small.
