The Historical Evolution of Wang Bo Town

In the sixth year of Yuanshuo (BC 123), Zhang Qian went out with the general Wei Qing and defeated the Xiongnu, so he was named "Bo Wanghou" for his work. In BC 1 19, Zhang Qian made his second mission to the Western Regions and began to bring the silk and other articles from the Central Plains to the Western Regions. Zhang Qian was posthumously dubbed "Bo Wanghou", hence the name "Bo Wanghou".

The first is to take the meaning of "seeing widely". "Cihai": Wang Bo, the name of an ancient county, is located in the Western Han Dynasty. Zhang Qian's mission to the Western Regions opened the Silk Road, and the political, economic, cultural, geographical and other information brought back from the Western Regions was very important to the Han court, which was a great contribution. Zhang Qian was appointed here, indicating that the Han court fully affirmed his mission to the Western Regions.

Second, during the Han Dynasty, the economy and trade here were very developed, while Wang Bo belonged to the plain area of Wan Basin, with fertile land, convenient transportation and prosperous trade. Zhang Qian was sealed in the land of wealth, which is a matter of course.

Third, for strategic reasons, it is located in the Jianghuai Plain in the southeast, just on the eastern edge of Wan (the ancient name of Nanyang). From this point on, the Silk Road began to run directly through the western regions, across Wan Li, connecting things and living in harmony with all ethnic groups, showing the great talent of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty and the broad mind of the Chinese nation. At that time, the fief of Zhang Qian, the ancient city of Wang Bo, was located in Wang Bo Town, 30 kilometers northeast of Wancheng, which lasted more than 600 years from the establishment of Wangbo County by Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty to the Southern Song Dynasty. The ancient city of Wang Bo is about 2,600 meters long from east to west, and governs 45 miles of Wang Bo Tun.

In 2006, a new White Horse Temple was built on the west side of the original site by local laity. There were five stone tablets in the Qing Dynasty, but the inscriptions on the other three tablets were legible. As can be seen from the inscription, there are primitive buildings such as Chinese Buddha Hall, Left Buddha Hall, Right Buddha Hall and Pilu Buddha Hall in Baima Temple. According to records, Zhang Qian sealed Hou Yu Wang Bo (BC 123) and brought back several gold gods from the Western Regions. Two big ones were left in the imperial court, and the rest were brought back to Wang Bo to be enshrined in the Golden Hall about 300 meters behind the Zhang Qian government office at that time. After Zhang Qian's death, the bloody white horse he brought back to Wang Bo from the Western Regions was buried next to this temple. In order to commemorate the White Horse, later generations changed the Golden Hall to the White Horse Hall. Since the White Horse Temple was built, it has experienced more than two thousand years of wind and rain, repeated construction and destruction, and ups and downs.

The White Horse Temple in Fangcheng, Wang Bo was built in Wang Bo, Zhang Qian, and it was earlier than the White Horse Temple in Luoyang 180 years ago. Shu Wei Shi Lao Zhi also said: "When I opened the Western Regions, I sent Zhang Qian back to Daxia, and I heard that there was a poisonous country next to it, and there were Tianzhu, and I only heard about its teachings."
