Serbia and Montenegro in the 2008 European Cup
Problem description:
Serbia and Montenegro were not separated when the Euro 2008 qualifiers were drawn. But now that Serbia and Montenegro is divided into two, how will UEFA deal with this problem in this qualifier?
Analysis:
Please look at the news below. Montenegro has not joined UEFA.
The Football Association of Serbia and Montenegro will hold its last meeting in Belgrade on July 28th, officially announcing its dissolution.
It is reported that the Serbian Football Association will continue its current activities, while the Montenegrin Football Association will re-apply to join UEFA.
The Football Association of Serbia and Montenegro said that UEFA will make a final decision on whether to still participate in the qualifiers starting in September in the name of Serbia and Montenegro, as it had previously participated in the draw for the European Championship qualifiers. The Montenegro Football Association also announced that Montenegro will start to run its own football league in 2007, and in the first season, 12 teams will participate in the first division. The first competition area will start in mid-August next year, and each team needs to pay a deposit of 20,000 euros.
