Hainan Island is one of the regions with the highest rainfall in the world at the same latitude. It has sufficient sources of water vapor, a large amount of precipitation, and uneven spatial and temporal distribution.

The coldest month is January, with the monthly average temperature in the central mountainous area being around 16.50C, the lowest on the island. The hottest month occurs in most areas in July, with the monthly average temperature in the west and east being 29.20C, the highest on the island.
