What does Wong Tai Sin mean?
Wong Tai Sin (Taoist deity), Huang Chuping (about 328-about 386), later known as "Wong Tai Sin", is one of the Chinese folk beliefs and a famous Taoist deity. He was born in Huanghuan Village, Lanxi, Jinhua, Zhejiang Province. It is said that he was born in Chi'an, Yiwu, Jinhua, Zhejiang Province. Wong Tai Sin was originally a local shepherd boy who herded sheep. He practiced Taoism and became an immortal in Jinhua Mountain. In the Song Dynasty, he was awarded the title of "the true person who cultivates quality and is pure and upright".
The legend of Wong Tai Sin is widely spread in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Southeast Asia and other places. Today, there is Wong Tai Sin Ancestral Palace in Jinhua, Zhejiang, and Wong Tai Sin Temple in Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Hong Kong also has the Wong Tai Sin District established in his memory.
Wong Tai Sin belief was introduced to Hong Kong in 1915 by the founder of Po Hing Tan, Taoist priest Liang Yan'an, and has since developed vigorously. The famous Wong Tai Sin Temple in Hong Kong is dedicated to him and has constant incense all day long. Huang Chuping was a native of Danxi in the Jin Dynasty. When he was fifteen years old, he went to herd sheep. Seeing his kind nature, a Taoist priest took him to a stone chamber in Jinhua Mountain, Zhejiang, and accepted him as his disciple.
I have been studying for more than 40 years. His brother Huang Chuqi has been looking for him, but has not found him after so many years. Later, when he saw a Taoist priest doing divination in the market, Huang Chuqi asked him where his brother was. The Taoist priest said: "There is a kid herding sheep in Jinhua Mountain. His surname is Huang and his name is Chuping. Is he your brother?" After Chuqi heard about it, he immediately went to Jinhua Mountain with the Taoist priest to look for him. When the brothers met, they were filled with joy and sorrow.

One of the "Five Immortals" worshiped by the people
After the decline of the righteous Taoism, the "Five Immortals" were worshiped by the Han people. The "Five Immortals" are also called the "Five Great Masters" or the "Five Gods of Wealth", which respectively refer to: Fox Fairy (fox), Huang Fairy (weasel), White Fairy (hedgehog), Willow Fairy (snake) and Gray Fairy (mouse).
"Huang Xian" or "Huang Daxian" is a yellow weasel, commonly known as a weasel. In some northern rural areas, it is called "Uncle Huang". In the old days, there was a statue of him in Thean Hou Temple.
It is worshiped for two reasons. One is because it is as beautiful as a fox and has a cunning temperament, which makes people feel mysterious; another important reason is that it is believed to be able to influence people's spiritual world and is related to a kind of mental disorder.
People believe that once a weasel possesses the body, hysteria will occur, and most of them will be women or those with mental depression. When this kind of disease occurs, people cry, talk and sing, telling some mysterious things or injustices in their lives. Some people also sing some beautiful verses. People suffering from hysteria do not recognize their family members, relatives and friends when they become ill, and their speaking tone is different from those in Hershey.
Although this kind of hysteria will not leave any sequelae, it is difficult to completely cure and is prone to recurring attacks. These are claims that have no scientific basis at all, and many people are deceived by this superstitious phenomenon.
