1) can be planted next to the door, but don't let the trunk not face the door.

2) Door to door doesn't matter, as long as the two opposite poplars are not facing your door. Right means you go straight from the door, just walk past it without pointing to the trunk, instead of standing at the door and looking at the trunk.
