What God is Fei Lian?

Fei Lian is a fengshen.

China's ancient myths and Taoist myths are two different systems. Taoist mythology has a long history and has formed a complete system. China's ancient myth system generally refers to the myths and legends before the Han Dynasty. Because it is too old to form a complete system, ancient myths are generally recorded in Chu Ci, Shan Hai Jing and other documents. Fei Lian, a man with a face and a bird's body, has the power to control the wind and the ability to control the weather, so he is also called Fengshen.

Fei Lian, a demon with a human face and a bird's body in ancient mythology, can call the shots and control the weather changes. Fei Lian first appeared in Qu Yuan's Li Sao. During the Warring States Period, Qin and Zhao, the best fighters, regarded Fengshen Fei Lian as their ancestors, which is also an evidence that Qin and Zhao belong to the same clan.

Fei Lian's identity legend

1. An important official of Shang Dynasty

During Shang Zhouwang period, Fei Lian was an important official of Shang Dynasty, and Fei Lian E Lai and his son were both ancestors of the monarch of Qin State. "Notes on Water Classics" said that Fei Lian was good at walking and worked for Zhou Wang, Zhou Wuwang defeated Zhou Wang, and Fei Lian committed suicide. The Emperor of Heaven was moved by his loyalty, buried him with a sarcophagus and made him a fengshen.

2. Fengbo

During the Chiyou period of the Yellow Emperor, Chiyou was his right-hand man. Fengbo's name is Fei Lian, and he used to be Chiyou's younger brother. He looks strange, with a deer-like body and a leopard-like pattern. His head is like a peacock's head, with strange horns and a snake-like tail. During the battle of the deer, he helped Chiyou to fight against the Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan, which brought great trouble to the Yellow Emperor. Later, Chiyou lost, but he escaped by luck and disappeared into the world, and never appeared again.
