Where is Gaochun Yongqing Temple?

Gaochun Yongqing Temple is a cultural relic protection unit in Nanjing.

There is an ancient temple in Yuan Dynasty called Yongqing Temple in Yaxi Town, Gaochun County. Most temples in the world face south, but the door of Yongqing Temple faces east. According to Gaochun County Records, Yongqing Temple was originally named "Yongqing Temple". It is said that the temple was changed to "An" to commemorate a woman related to the emperor.

Yongqing Temple is located in Jingshan, Yongqing Village, Yaxi Town. Walking along the winding cement road to the depths of the bamboo forest, an ancient building being repaired appeared in front of the reporter. Villager Yang Chunhua told reporters that this is Yongqing Temple. Yang Chunhua is the only resident near ancient buddhist nun, and he knows the legends of ancient buddhist nun like the back of his hand. Yang Chunhua said that Yongqing Temple was originally named Yongqing Temple. He heard from his predecessors that Yongqing Temple was once called Jinshan Temple and has a history of nearly a thousand years. Perhaps because there is a "Jingshan" here, "Jinshan Temple" is homophonic.

Because the temple is a palace-style building, the doors of the temple all face south. In Yongqing Temple, the reporter saw the gate open to the east. Yang Chunhua said that the folklore "the door faces east" means "opening to Qinglong", indicating that the emperor had personally visited this place. It is said that during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, the emperor toured here and had feelings with a local woman. Later, the woman gave birth to a son and was admitted to the top scholar. After being known by the emperor, she sent someone to inquire. In order to take care of the face of her son and the emperor, the woman became a monk in a small temple not far from Jinshan Temple. When the emperor came to meet her, she committed suicide in the fire. Later, the locals renamed Jinshan Temple Yongjing Temple, and the emperor deliberately changed the word "Jing" to "Yongqing Temple". Later, it was renamed "Yongqing Temple", which is said to commemorate this woman.

According to Gaochun County Records, Yongqing Temple was destroyed by fire in Xianfeng period of Qing Dynasty. At the end of Qing Dynasty, a monk named Honggen traveled here. When he saw the excellent feng shui here, he ran around and rebuilt the broken wall of the temple. Yongqing Temple has three 2 entrances, with wells in the middle and the next day. Wings on both sides, mostly carved in classical wood structure.
