Where is Shangri-La? Detailed introduction to Shangri-La tourist attractions

Where is Shangri-La?

As mankind is about to leave the 20th century, Diqing, Yunnan, China, unveiled the mystery of this world. In 1996, the Yunnan Provincial People's Government organized a research team to conduct a one-year study on Shangri-La, conducted demonstrations from seven aspects, and came to the conclusion that Shangri-La is located in Diqing, Yunnan Province. On September 14, 1997, a press conference was held in Diqing to announce this conclusion to the world, which attracted great attention at home and abroad to Diqing Shangri-La 354.

In Tibetan, Shangri-La means "the sun and moon in my heart", and its English pronunciation comes from the Zhongdian Tibetan dialect. Secondly, in the past hundred years, in addition to the prevalence of Tibetan Buddhism in Shangri-La, there are also Dongba, Confucianism, Taoism, Bon, Catholicism, Christianity, and Islam. The people of Shangri-La have inherited the excellent legend of the unity of nature and man in Tibetan culture, abandoned the old concept of rejecting the achievements of modern science and technology, and become one of the richest Tibetan areas in the country. Diqing abandoned poverty and backwardness and inherited and carried forward the custom of brothers living in harmony. Therefore, Hilton created the novel "Lost Horizon" based on Diqing. Only Diqing can call it Shangri-La.

Travel Tips

Shangri-La has towering snow-capped mountains, vast grasslands and deep valleys. Shimen Pass on the many desolate Tea Horse Road and Yuzang Rift Valley, a wonder in western Yunnan, open their arms to tourists with their wonderful scenery. Deep in the snowy mountains, in the hinterland of the grasslands, and in the forests, there are countless quiet and mysterious mountain lakes such as Bita Lake, Shudu Lake, and Napa Sea, calling for people to lift the veil of beauty. The essence of Shangri-La is Meili Snow Mountain, and the essence of Meili Snow Mountain is Yubeng Village.

Things to note

1. Except for May-July and September-October, the road conditions in Diqing are poor during the rainy season, which is not conducive to travel. The temperature is too low in winter. If it rains, just wait and go home. The mountain road is not easy to walk after snow. Waiting for the snow to melt is a matter of patience and time.

2. Don’t rush to Diqing during the Spring Festival, because the outdoor temperature will be -3-8 during those days. If there is no heating equipment, the indoor temperature will be 1-9. The temperature is even lower at night, -7 outside and -1 inside. In addition to low temperatures and few people and cars on the streets, icy roads can be daunting for drivers.

3. It is recommended to bring a coat, down jacket, gloves, and non-slip boots when going to Diqing. Coupled with the dry climate and strong ultraviolet rays, women should prepare sunscreen, sun hats, sunglasses, especially when traveling after October, and bring enough warm clothes.

4. June to September every year is the rainy season in Diqing Plateau. The weather in the plateau is unpredictable. On rainy days, you can bring a few more plastic bags (or shower caps) to cover the camera to prevent rain and dust.

5. Diqing is a high-altitude area (3300 meters) and is not suitable for strenuous exercise or Drinking alcohol. Eat more fruits and vegetables to prevent altitude sickness.

6. If there are no special reasons, ordinary postal service can be completed in any town in Diqing, but the time will be different. In Shangri-La County, postal communications are as complete as those in big cities. However, in areas with poor transportation, a letter usually only takes 2 days to arrive, while there it takes 5 days or more.

7. The first sunrise at Meili Snow Mountain after a continuous rainy day is often very beautiful. The sky is full of morning glow, and the smart and elegant clouds are like a fairyland. The sky full of red clouds at dusk or the golden canopy of clouds on the snowy peaks are rare. Rainbow deserves a mention. During the rainy season, rainbows can often be seen at dusk. If you are at Feilai Temple at this time, you need to go back and shoot in the southeast direction. The location of the rainbow is usually above the Deqin River Valley, with the Baima Snow Mountain in the background. (Baima Snow Mountain is located southeast of Meili. It was taken from Feilai Temple on a clear evening. This is Rizhao Jinshan Mountain.) If it is on the top of the fog (the top of fog is southeast of Meili Snow Mountain and Feilai Temple), the rainbow will pass through Crossing the valley, the Meili Snow Mountain is in the background. If the rainbow goes up and the neon goes down, it is simply a gift from the mountain.

8. The local specialties are yak dried rice, Tibetan knives and Tibetan medicine. Many yak rice dishes are made from cows and have a much different taste. If you want to buy yak jerky, you can go to your local supermarket. The price is much more reasonable. Those tourist shops can only be described in one word - expensive. Remember to go to a specialty store to buy a Tibetan knife, don't rush, and then mail it through the post office.

9. If you have a weak friend, you can rent a small oxygen bottle at the hotel, which is about the same size as an air freshener. The deposit for bottles is 20 yuan and for oxygen is 5 yuan. But if you keep pumping, it will be used up in 2 minutes. Also prepare some high-calorie foods such as chocolate, which are a must in plateau areas. You must bring enough clothes. The temperature in Shangri-La is low all year round, especially when visiting the snow-capped mountains. Another pair of sunglasses is also necessary to avoid snow blindness.

The best time to travel to Shangri-La is late spring and early summer from May to July and autumn from September to October.
