How to pronounce Jia Ping's "concave"
The first sound of "Wa-"is what Jia Pingwa himself said in a TV interview: he was called "Pingwa" when he was a child, and later he took a name similar to "Pingwa" at school, so Jia Pingwa should pronounce "Jia Pingwa-". This is also in his autobiography.
He is a writer in Shaanxi, and Shaanxi people like to call their children "Wa". Adding the word "Wa" after their names makes them read kindly. ..
"Concave" has two pronunciations:
( 1)āoㄠˉ
◎ The periphery is high and the middle is low, as opposed to "convex": ~ convex is uneven. ~ lens. ~ relief printing (one of the printing technologies, different from relief printing).
(2)wāㄨㄚˉ
◎ Same as "tile" (used for place names): Walnut ~ (in Shanxi Province, China).
