The origin of the name of Jintian town
Jintian Town was always called Daxuan or Xinxu before the Republic of China, and "Xu" was the local name of the town in Cantonese. The old overseas Chinese who emigrated from here know Da Xuanwei, but they don't know Jintian Town. Jintian was originally a village. The original origin was due to the uprising of Yao nationality in Ming Dynasty. Hou Dagou, the leader of the Rebel Army (Guiping Warrior), is going to build its capital in Bauhinia and Jin Tianyi, and Jin Tianyi is called "Golden Dragon Hall" for short. After the failure of the uprising, the local people dared not call it "Golden Temple" and renamed it "Jintian" (Cantonese homophonic "Golden Temple"). It was not until Hong Xiuquan came to preach in Jintian that the name of Jintian was fixed. After liberation, it has been called "Jintian". Today's Jintian villagers and their ancestors are Hakkas who moved here from Guangdong and other places, while Huaxian County, Guangdong, the birthplace of the revolution, is a place where Hakkas live in compact communities, and the rising Jintian Village is a Hakka territory.
