Ancient Zhan Zhou is not any modern city. Danzhou City belongs to Hainan Province.

Danzhou is a prefecture-level city without districts and cities in Hainan Province. Danzhou * * * governs 17 township administrative districts, including 1 street and 16 town. They are Sandu Street, Nada Town, Heqing Town, Nanfeng Town, Dacheng Town, Yaxing Town, Yanglan Town, Guangcun Town, Tom Town, Haitou Town, Eman Town, Wangwu Town, Baimajing Town, Zhonghe Town, Paipu Town, East Cheng Zhen Town and Xinzhou Town, among which Sandu Street is managed by Yangpu Economic Development Zone. Danzhou Municipal People's Government is located at Zhongxing Street 1 Nada Town.

Danzhou is located in the south of China, in the northwest of Hainan, near Beibu Gulf, 0/30km from Haikou, the provincial capital, to the north and 280km from Sanya to the south. Danzhou is the economic, transportation, communication and cultural center of western Hainan, and Hainan Yangpu Economic Development Zone, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and Danzhou Campus of Hainan University are all in its territory. Danzhou is the earliest area in Hainan to set up administrative system, and a county was set up here as early as the first year of Yuanfeng in the Western Han Dynasty.

Topography of Danzhou City

Danzhou city is bounded by the north latitude19 40', and the southern part of Danzhou city belongs to Indosinian dome structure, forming wavy low hills, mainly exposing granite invaded in the second phase of Mesozoic, metamorphic rocks of Cambrian Tolie Group, Banwan Group of Cretaceous and a small amount of Quaternary marine strata. There are minerals such as iron, tin, crystal and limestone in the south. The northern part belongs to the southern end of Lei Qiong subsidence zone, forming a gentle slope.

Basalt ejected from late Cenozoic and Quaternary marine strata is mainly exposed. Quaternary marine sediments are rich in lignite, quartz sand, oil shale and barite. Located in the hilly area in the northwest of Hainan Island, the terrain is mainly hilly, accounting for 76% of the city's area, with flat platforms accounting for 23.6% and mountains accounting for 0.4%.

The terrain gradually slopes downward from southeast to northwest, with high in southeast and low in northwest, and low hills in south and southeast. The ground elevation is100 ~ 200m, and there are 13 peaks over 500m distributed in this area. There are coastal plain platforms and lava platforms in the north and northwest, which are relatively flat, with a height of 5~ 100 meters and a coastline of 225 kilometers. The main coastal ports are Yangpu Port, Ganchong Port, Baimajing Port, Paipu Port, Haitou Port, Xinying Port and Eman Port. There is a phosphorus cannon stone island in the coastal waters with high tide but no tide.
