Mingshitang Village is a small mountain village in Zhutian Town, Fei County, Shandong Province. The earliest I knew about this village was due to a folk legend. On August 19, 2017, I didn’t go to work on Saturday, so I went to Mingshitang Village for a visit at the invitation of my colleague Guo Jinghe.

Mingshi Pond is located on a high mountain southwest of Zhutian Town. The original meaning of Ming Shi Tang is a shiny stone. These stones are located on the cliff of Mingshi Pond. Some of them are green and gray. They are very different in color from the surrounding rocks, like emeralds inlaid on the cliff. Because there is a magical stone mirror on this mountain, the Feng Shui here is very good. Five or six college students are admitted every year, and seventy or eighty students have been admitted so far. It is still 12 kilometers away from the Zhutian Town Residential Area, and They are all mountain roads, and roads have only been opened in recent years. The journey out of the mountains for these students is not an easy one. Guo Jinghe said that the feng shui here used to be good, and many people worked as officials in the south. Later, people from the south came and nailed stone fish and turtles on the magic mirror. The feng shui of Mingshi Pond was broken, and people who went out to be officials became Not much more.
The legend about the magic mirror in Mingshitang shining on Gaijia Cave is different from the local legend in Mingshitang. The villagers said that the magic mirror shined on a family named Ren in Shangye. Every noon, The stone fish and turtles from Mingshi Pond will appear in the Ren family's well. The Ren family lives a very wealthy life, and some of them are high-ranking officials outside. Later, the Ren family bought the cypress tree next to the magic mirror and protected it, hoping that their family would always have good luck. However, the real people in Mingshitang misunderstood the meaning of the Ren family and thought that if they bought it, they would take it to their own home. After waiting for a long time to see the Ren family, he took the initiative to cut down the tree and send it to Ren's family in Shangye. It turns out that this cypress tree also has spiritual energy. Without the protection of the cypress tree, the Ren family's good luck has ceased and has returned to mediocrity. Those who are interested can go to Shangye Town to see if they can find the legendary Ren family and see if the well and the legend about stone fish and turtles there are the same as those in Mingshi Pond.
