Which country is Phnom Penh in?
Phnom Penh is the capital and largest city of Cambodia. It is the political, economic, cultural, transportation, trade and religious center of Cambodia. Phnom Penh covers an area of 678.46 square kilometers and has a population of approximately 3 million (2018). It is located in the delta between the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers.
Phnom Penh has a tropical climate, which is very hot and humid under the influence of high pressure in the Gulf of Thailand (Gulf of Siam) and the Indian Ocean. The climate is divided into two seasons, the "rainy season" from March to October, with high temperature and humidity, and the temperature in extremely hot weather can occasionally rise to 38 ~ 39℃;
The "dry season" is from November to April of the following year. The temperature is as low as about 22℃, but it is still neither cool nor hot during the day; the lowest temperature is occasionally 17~19℃. The average annual temperature is between 28-34℃. The best tourist season is from November to January, when the temperature is suitable.
The total population of Phnom Penh is 3 million (2018). The population growth rate is 3.92%. 90% of the population is Khmer; the remaining ethnic minorities are Chinese, Cham, Punong, Laotian and Thai. 90% of Phnom Penh residents believe in Buddhism, and a few people believe in Islam and Christianity. The official language is Cambodian, with small amounts of English and French also spoken.
