Let young people fall in love with grocery carts, this is probably its purpose
Why do young people buy cars that suit their temperament? Because if you don’t do this, everyone will think you stole dad’s car and drove it! According to this logic, mature and stable grocery shopping carts are usually not the first choice for young people to buy cars. But young people are a huge group with different personalities and hobbies. Don’t you allow people of all ages to choose to buy food carts? Therefore, it is not easy for car companies to build a car that meets the tastes of most young people!
Of course, our concept of grocery carts may be too one-sided. Who says that grocery carts must be the choice of mature people? ?Beijing Hyundai Elantra is now in its seventh generation. Doesn’t it still behave like a grocery cart? But no matter what, it must be a grocery shopping cart that young people like.

So handsome, he looks nothing like a grocery cart!
Traditional Feng Shui often discusses faces, and grocery carts often have a unique "face", so people can tell it is a grocery cart at a glance. But the Elantra doesn't feel this way at all, and you might even think it is a sports-oriented model. It has an exaggerated and radical design style that is very individual and recognizable. This style is more common among Korean cars and is also a type that young people prefer.
In terms of size, the Elantra is larger than the Dongfeng Honda Civic sedan. Of course, the numerical difference between them is indeed negligible, so the Elantra will not appear particularly large from the outside.
The interior design of the Elantra is not boring, and is more fashionable. Although the materials used in the interior are average, the overall effect and atmosphere are quite pleasing to young people. Of course, it will not be as showy as its appearance. Every detail can give people a soft feeling, and the color scheme looks relatively comfortable, which is in line with the modern home concept.
Among the Korean cars I have come into contact with so far, I have basically never seen a car with unsatisfactory rear space. The Elantra naturally inherits this good tradition. Moreover, its rear seats are relatively comfortable to ride, and it also has air-conditioning outlets. Except for the protruding middle floor, which is more concerning, other aspects are in line with the standards of a grocery shopping cart.
However, its trunk space is quite satisfactory, and it is not outstanding among models in its class. The model we tested also has a 4/6 split folding design of the seat back, which is more convenient for placing larger and longer objects, which is quite practical. Unfortunately, this feature is not standard on all series.
Intelligent configuration is worth mentioning
If you compare the configuration, most domestic joint venture brand compact cars are basically no match for it. Even if the configuration keeps up, the price is still higher than it. Much more expensive. Moreover, Elantra not only has many configurations, but is also quite intelligent. It is equipped with intelligent network connection system 3.0 and Blue Link service, which integrates mainstream functions such as voice interaction, remote control, car-home mutual control, and on-board real-time navigation system. Function. Of course, due to time constraints, we have not seriously experienced these functions.
The Hyundai Smartsense safety system it is equipped with is undoubtedly the selling point of the seventh-generation Elantra. This system consists of active safety and driving assistance functions such as FCA forward collision avoidance assist, LFA lane centering assist, RCCA rear cross collision avoidance assist, BCA blind spot collision avoidance assist, NSCC navigation-based intelligent cruise control, HDA highway driving assist, etc.
During our test drive this time, we were most impressed by the three functions of NSCC's navigation-based intelligent cruise control, HDA highway driving assistance, and LFA lane centering.
After turning on the cruise control and adjusting the speed and distance, the vehicle will automatically drive according to your settings. The entire driving process rarely requires human intervention, even if there is a car cutting in front of you. It can respond quickly to deceleration, and the entire operation does not feel mechanical or rough, which makes people feel more at ease. The recognition ability of LFA's lane centering is also expected to be stronger. It can keep the vehicle firmly in the middle of the lane, and it will not "derail" easily even when cornering.
A fun-to-drive grocery cart
The Elantra we tested is equipped with a 1.5L engine, so its power is indeed the characteristics of a grocery cart. If you want to drive on the highway, When overtaking or accelerating, you must dare to press the accelerator as deep as possible. The deeper, the better. Obviously, the aggressive driving style is not suitable for this power combination. It is suitable for driving in a gentle way. The silky smooth ride will definitely let you enjoy the "Buddha" driving style.
Although its power is relatively ordinary, it is quite good at saving fuel. During our test drive, we ran about 47km, mainly on high speeds, and also passed through some congested urban sections and a short section of national highways. Finally, we also ran a section of mountain roads. The final average fuel consumption was about 6.8L/100km. Of course, we did not test it carefully, so the reference significance is relatively limited.
If you have higher requirements for power, the 240TGDi model of Elantra may be more suitable for you. It is equipped with a 1.4T engine and is matched with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. We have not driven this version for this test drive, but I believe its power will be better than the 1.5L model.
The comfort of its chassis also exceeded our expectations. The suspension is soft, but the body does not bounce and shake much during driving. When cornering on a mountain road, its roll is relatively small, and combined with the relatively accurate steering, it is still a bit fun to drive.
As for its sound insulation and noise reduction capabilities, the Elantra is also within our expectations. It is relatively quiet overall and will not be disturbing whether driving on the highway or in urban traffic conditions. It's just that during acceleration, its relatively hoarse engine sound becomes a bit obvious. However, for a car that is suitable for a "Buddhist" driving style, you can completely avoid this happening through your own driving habits.
Finally
Of course, our impression of Beijing Hyundai’s seventh-generation Elantra is limited to the 1.5L model. If it is the 240TGDi model with better power, there may be a different driving experience experience. However, based on its selling price of 99,800-141,800 yuan, I believe that most consumers will choose the 1.5L model. If you want to be more sporty, Beijing Hyundai Festa may be a better choice. After all, it costs 11.98-15.48 yuan. The selling price of 10,000 yuan has a large overlap with the Elantra.
Although the Elantra has a sporty appearance and can bring a little driving pleasure in terms of handling, its comfortable ride experience makes it more suitable for use as a grocery cart. However, it is not an ordinary grocery cart, it is a grocery cart that young people can like. FAW Toyota Corolla and GAC Toyota Ralink also have this trait to a certain extent.
So, the seventh-generation Elantra has only been on the market for 2 months, and its sales have already exceeded 10,000, which is indeed quite good. As for the leadership of "multi-generations living under one roof", its status will become even more embarrassing, because the Elantra is even cheaper than it. Whether this car still has the value of continuing to be sold is a question that Beijing Hyundai needs to seriously consider.
