The first woman should not touch needle and thread.

Using a knife or scissors is considered to cut off the financial resources of an official career. Do not touch the needle and thread, otherwise the woman will quarrel with others all year round, or feel tingling and discomfort. Avoid breaking dishes.

There is also the custom of avoiding breaking utensils on New Year's Eve. It is believed that if plates and cups are broken on this day, it means bad luck in the new year. Sometimes if you accidentally break a cup or plate on this day, the elders will wrap it in red paper and recite auspicious words such as "peace".

Don’t sweep the floor on the first day.

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, the whole family gathers together. New Year greeters keep coming in and out, eating peanuts, melon seeds, fruits, and smoking cigarettes. The peeled skin, shells, dregs, paper scraps, and cigarette butts were all over the floor, so people came up with a workaround. Sweeping from the outside to the inside symbolizes the entry of treasures. After sweeping, put it in a trash can or paper basket and save it.
