Can anyone tell me how to understand these weather maps?
The first picture is a tone-enhanced cloud image. The brighter the image (that is, the image color gradually becomes brighter from black-gray-white-blue-green-red-yellow), it indicates the temperature of the cloud top. The lower it is, the stronger the convection (because the picture is a cloud picture in the tropics, which is dominated by convection, and the brighter the color, the higher the height of the top of the convective cloud)
The second picture is a wind cut picture. The brighter the color (that is, the image color gradually becomes brighter from dark blue - green - yellow - orange - red - white), it means the wind shear is larger, and the solid line with white positive numbers represents the past period. The intensity of wind shear increases over time, while the blue dotted line with negative numbers indicates the degree of weakening of wind shear over time.
The third picture is a vorticity diagram. The warmer the color, the greater the positive vorticity. On the contrary, the cooler the color, the greater the negative vorticity.
