Does Yaoyu Palace really exist?
The Yongding River originates from the Sanggan River in Shanxi, and flows into the Yanghe River from the Inner Mongolia Plateau in Hebei Province. After flowing through Beijing and Tianjin, it enters the Haihe River and finally flows into the Bohai Sea.
After the Yongding River moved southward, a wilderness and pond were left behind, with an island in the water called "Yaoyu". The terrain is very similar to the "one pond and three mountains" model, and it has become a geomantic treasure favored by royal families of all ages.
After Yelu Deguang, Emperor Taizong of the Liao Dynasty established the capital of Yanjing in 938, he built the "Yaoyu Palace" in the "Bailian Pond" on the northeastern outskirts of the city. Due to the excavation of the lake and the accumulation of soil, a lake gradually formed The island is called "Yuan Di".
According to the "History of Liao":
There is Liangdian on the top of the west city, and there are Yanjiao Tower, Fangshi and Guan in the northeast corner, which are covered with countless books.
The "Hongwu Beiping Illustrated Book" records that "Qionghua Island was Yaoyu in the Liao Dynasty", which can prove the existence of "Yaoyu Palace".
