Reflections after reading the third volume of Deng Xiaoping’s Selected Works

After studying Deng Xiaoping Theory, I have a new understanding of Deng Xiaoping Theory. In fact, I am not unfamiliar with some of these theoretical policies, such as one country, two systems, spiritual civilization, peaceful development, etc., because they are always mentioned in the news media or in certain meetings. But before attending the Deng Research Conference, I just swallowed it wholeheartedly. When people said this, I just thought so and couldn't understand why it was like this. After studying Deng Xiaoping Theory, I have understood the background of these theories, their essence and their huge social value, and have my own understanding. Now that I have read the third volume of "Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping", I have not only consolidated these familiar theories, but also understood some specific tasks and development policies.

While browsing the third volume, I saw the title "China must occupy a place in the world's high-tech field". At that time, I was thinking about why China must occupy a place here. ? What are the benefits? What's the purpose? Deng Xiaoping gave the answers one by one in his article. When answering a question from a foreign reporter, he said that formulating high-tech development plans should focus on the interests of long-term development, rather than just looking at the immediate future. If China had not had atomic bombs, hydrogen bombs, or launched satellites since the 1960s, China would not be called a major country with important influence, and it would not have the international status it does now. These things reflect the capabilities of a nation and are also signs of the prosperity of a nation and a country. Therefore, China must develop its own high technology. Although China was still relatively backward and poor in economic and other aspects at the time of 1988, Deng Xiaoping had already foreseen the future development trend of the world, considered the important factors for China to become a powerful country, and based on long-term interests, formulated development plans. For high-tech plans, I think I have to admire the leadership and governance skills of Deng Xiaoping, China's second generation leader. At the same time, in the development of the past few years, we have also seen that as China has achieved great success on its own in several high-tech fields, the abilities of our scientists have gradually been recognized by scientists from all over the world, and our country's achievements in many scientific fields Its status has also been improved, and the world has begun to recognize this powerful country. I think this has verified the correctness of Deng Xiaoping's decision.

In the two articles "Summizing Experience and Using Talents" and "Science and Technology are the Primary Productive Forces", Deng Xiaoping mentioned a lot about his attitude towards intellectuals and talents. I think this is what our students all think about. I am very concerned about what he will think of the so-called "Lao Jiu".

In the previous article, he talked about the discovery and use of talents, emphasizing the importance of talents. Talents are rare. Even though they may have certain weaknesses and shortcomings, we still need to let go and use their talents to do great things. Without talents, nothing can be done well. Indeed, for the current developing China, talents are really crucial, and now China is also facing a shortage of talents in many fields. How to discover and utilize talents has become a problem. For now, I think in many aspects we are not lacking talents, but lacking talent. Real talents are not discovered well, or when they are discovered, they are not used decisively. Deng Xiaoping overturned the erroneous comments on intellectuals during the Cultural Revolution and realized that the development of China must rely on talents from all aspects. This really provides an opportunity for many intellectuals to express themselves. We can now see that talents from all walks of life are constantly emerging, and their minds are constantly colliding, producing many sparks of invention and creation. This undoubtedly provides Our country's scientific development provides a good atmosphere.

At the end of the first article, he mentioned respecting talents, and in the second article, he mentioned the treatment of senior intellectuals. He advocated mobilizing the enthusiasm of intellectuals and respecting them. It is necessary to solve their treatment problem and make them feel hopeful.

In particular, he talked about international students and believed that it is very important how we create conditions for them to come back to work. I think this is also a problem that troubles many international students. They see that their motherland is developing, and they hope to come back and contribute to high technology, but However, they found that there were no working conditions and no institution to accept them after they returned. Of course, they also had psychological hesitation. After all, the Cultural Revolution still had a shadow on them. In response to these, Deng Xiaoping proposed setting up a comprehensive scientific research center, etc., and repeatedly emphasized the need to respect talents. I think his suggestion was successful. We can now see with our own eyes that overseas Chinese have returned to China to start businesses, build the motherland, and revitalize our country's economy, science, etc. In this article, he also mentioned the use of investment in science and education and the improvement of teachers' salary. I think these have more or less pointed out the direction for the reform of our education system.

As a Shanghai citizen, I am also very interested in the article "Conversations during an Inspection in Shanghai". The main sentence of this article is: "Shanghai is late in development, so we must work hard!". When I saw this sentence, I felt inspired to fight. In this article, Deng Xiaoping fully realized the significant development potential of Shanghai, a "feng shui treasure land". Shanghai used to be a financial center and a place where currency was freely convertible, and it will continue to do so in the future. Finance is important and is the core of the modern economy. Once finance is done well, everything will be fine once you move the chess piece. For China to achieve international status in finance, it must first rely on Shanghai. At the same time, he shifted to the development and utilization of Pudong. Developing Pudong is not just an issue for Pudong, it is an issue related to the development of Shanghai and the use of Shanghai as a base to develop the Yangtze River Delta and the Yangtze River Basin. After Pudong is built, as long as we keep our word and act in accordance with international practices, people will first invest their money in Shanghai, and competition will depend on this. This article was written in 1991. Eleven years have passed. Pudong has now become a financial center. Many well-known domestic and foreign companies and manufacturers have settled in Pudong. The amount of investment in Shanghai every year is also With the continuous increase, Shanghai is gradually becoming an international metropolis. What we have achieved now is inseparable from the decisions Deng Xiaoping made that year. He was able to see his development prospects and contribution to China's modernization drive from Shanghai's past history and analysis of its geographical location. It plays a huge leading role and promotes the rapid development of Shanghai, so that it can fully play this role to build China and make China prosperous and strong.

Through reading and studying Deng Xiaoping's selected works, it is not difficult for us to see Deng Xiaoping's leadership skills. For every place and every aspect of work, he can make decisions based on specific matters, and can learn from historical lessons to improve management methods. He led China from the perspective of global development trends and long-term interests, and contributed a lot to the construction of China. The development in recent years has verified the correctness of Deng Xiaoping's leadership. For our students, studying Deng Xiaoping Theory not only allows us to further adhere to the leadership of the Communist Party and believe in their correctness; it also allows us to learn how to analyze and deal with things and make corresponding and correct decisions. What we learned in the Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping will bring great benefits to our future study and life, so study Deng Xiaoping’s Works
