Architectural features of Guo Dong
Most ancient villages have "Shuikou", which literally seems to be a place where streams converge, but in fact it is a checkpoint to keep foreign enemies away from the entrance of the village. Guodong Shuikou is particularly distinctive. To the east of Huilong Bridge is a steep Longshan, 400 meters high. The mountain is a hundred acres of virgin forest, covered with clouds and cages, and has always been connected with the thorny western hills. The stream under the bridge is swift, and there is a 5-meter-high thick wall outside the bridge, through which a road passes. In the past, all the villagers went in and out through the city gate. There is a stone couplet at the gate of the city: "The wind is ancient abroad, and the sun and the moon are long in the cave." Cross-approval is "Shuangquan Guli".
Shuikou is the soul of Guo Dong, and outsiders are here. Most of them will be deeply infected and respected. Guo Dong knows books, rituals and martial arts, and he is very patriotic. Wuyi County recorded that "in February of the fifth year of Shunzhi, Yamaguchi killed Liu Jiaqi, the magistrate of a county ..." This was a just move by the people of Guo Dong to refuse to accept the rule of the Qing Dynasty. Since then, the imperial court was furious and mobilized heavily to surround Guo Dong. Zhou, who was then Jin, Qu and Yan Daotai, lied that he had to pass through "Qianli Stone Cangling, Baili Hongtuo and Wuli Big Stone" on his way to the village, and "people should lean back and horses should cut bones". The Qing army therefore retreated. After the court finally learned the truth, Zhou Daotai was deprived of mercury. In memory of this eternal benefactor, the villagers painted a statue of Zhou in the temple outside the village, and put his memorial tablet on Wenchang Pavilion at the eastern end of Huilong Bridge, where they offered sacrifices every year.
