Asking about zombie legends

Zombie is a kind of walking corpse in China folklore, which will not rot for a long time after death. Low-level zombies will follow the ring of the corpse driver, but they usually have no self-awareness; Advanced zombies can act with self-awareness. According to Meridian Rain and Yuewei Caotang Notes, zombies have three other names: walking corpse, walking shadow and walking corpse. So far, there are no physical reports of zombies. Foreign ghosts similar to Chinese zombies include vampires, mummies and zombies.

The theory that a corpse will become a zombie

Yuewei Caotang Notes divides a corpse into two reasons: one is the sudden change of the new corpse, and the other is that it will not rot after being buried for a long time. The possible reasons are as follows:

Vegetarian meal in a corpse, which is more scientific? The pH of soil is extremely unbalanced, which is not suitable for the growth of organic matter, so it will not breed ants and bacteria. Even if the body is buried for a hundred years, the muscle hair will not rot. Some data show that the hair and nails of the corpse will continue to grow, in fact, because the muscles of the human body contract after death, and the hair and nails originally hidden in the meat are exposed. This kind of corpse is called shadow corpse, which is a transitional form between corpse and zombie. If left untreated, you will soon become a zombie. There is also this sentence in Feng Shui. In some foreign countries, vampires judge this situation in a similar way.

It is rumored that Taoism has a way to refine the shape of the moon. The body will be buried for hundreds of years and will be resurrected when it expires.

The body that just died was possessed by an evil thing/soul.

The human body absorbs the yang, which makes people angry and changes the body.

When a person dies, the soul is scattered and stagnated. According to Yuan Mei's Woods: "A person's soul is good and evil, but a person's soul is stupid." Three souls and seven souls dominate the human body. When the soul leaves the human body, it will become an evil spirit zombie.

People are buried after death. /kloc-in the 1950 s, there were funerals and morgues in Hong Kong people's homes, so the theory of social corpse change was very popular at that time. For example, when a pregnant cat jumps over a coffin with thunder and lightning, the body will change.

Legend has it that zombies eat human flesh and suck blood. The Notes of Yuewei Caotang once described the appearance of zombies as follows: "White hair is covered with vermilion, fingers are bent, teeth are exposed outside the lips like a sharp knife ... kissing and hissing, nosebleeds ..." Zombies can also become monsters (or Hiderigami, named after the legend that Hiderigami, the daughter of the Yellow Emperor, is the ancestor of zombies). "Nerve" contains: "The south is two or three feet long, naked, with eyes on the top, and it walks like the wind. It is called Hao, and the country you see is a thousand miles away from drought." Zombies can fly, kill dragons and swallow clouds, and cause drought. So whenever there is a drought, people will search for zombies and burn them to ashes. Yuan Mei's "Continued Words of Woods" even said that zombies have the possibility of turning into corpses: "Changzhou Jiang Mingfu said: the lion elephant riding a Buddha is well known; What the Buddha is riding, people don't know, it is a zombie. " Zombie bodies will make strange calls after changing, jump three times and become beasts. Therefore, it may be said that the body first became Hiderigami, and then became a body. He has magical powers, can spit fireworks, and can shoot dragons, so the Buddha rode to suppress it.

Zi Wu Yu in Yuan Mei's Strange Tales from a Lonely Studio in the Qing Dynasty mentioned three different colors: purple stiff, white stiff and green stiff, as well as stiff hair and flying stiff who can fly but is afraid of fire. It is mentioned in "Continued Yan" that Yunnan miners can't get out when they encounter soil pressure, or for decades, or for a hundred years, the soil is raised and the body is not bad, and they become dry muntjac. In addition, the book also talks about the classification of three kinds of zombies, called "three kinds of skeletons".

Three skeletons

Immobilization of bones: after death, some parts of the body will not become bones due to mental perfusion. The so-called spiritual perfusion is like a rice that has been exerting its strength with its shoulders. After his death, his shoulders may not rot, and the part of his shoulders that has not turned into bones is called sacrifice. If he gets the essence of the sun and the moon in the future, he will be in trouble.

Corpse: A thousand-year-old immortal corpse that cannot be moved. It can be said that it is a complete corpse. After a long time, the essence of the sun and the moon will gradually turn into a wandering corpse. The Book of God says, "Old clams can bury corpses."

Walking corpse: Probably the so-called zombies and walkers, who lie down during the day and go out at night. They are still lying down during the day, but at night they will come out to absorb the aura of the outside world and have no place to live. After a long time, they will become flying goblins.

How to deal with zombies

In some ancient books and novels, there are artifacts that can deal with zombies:

Mirror image or gossip. Compendium of Materia Medica mentions: "The mirror is the essence of golden water, and the inside is bright and the outside is dark."

Peach branches, peach wooden swords. Story of Jingchu Times: "Peach lovers, the essence of the five elements, can hate evil spirits and control hundreds of ghosts."

The cock crows. Woods said: "ghosts shrink when they hear chickens crow."

Seven jujube stones. Yan said, "Seven jujube stones were nailed to the back of the corpse."

Xiangxi corpse-driving theory

Xiangxi is the settlement of Miao nationality. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the imperial army entered here to change the soil and return to the country, and built fortresses here to suppress the survivors of the rebellion. Phoenix witnessed this history. Wu Shuo, a professor at Gushou University in Xiangxi, Hunan Province, said, "When I came by water at night, I dug up the foundation of the wall. It is said that coffins are used to hold gunpowder. Several coffins were placed on the dug foot of the wall, and the wall flew to the sky with a bang. " The constant fighting here has caused heavy casualties. In addition, the local mountains are undulating and the terrain is sinister. It is really difficult to send the deceased back to their hometown for burial. Zombie legends have the highest frequency in Xiangxi, which may originate from the legend of corpse driving in Xiangxi. Xiangxi corpse-driving, also known as moving souls, belongs to Maoshan You Zhu School, which originated in Yuanling, Luxi, Chenxi and Xupu counties in Xiangxi. When the body was not rotted, it was rushed back to the village by the warlock. Corpse hunters and magicians travel in small groups. Some of them tied the bodies with ropes every few feet, and then put yellow paper symbols on their foreheads. Others knock gongs to clear the way and draw night walks. Throw away the stack before dawn, uncover the paper, stand against the wall and continue on the road at night.

Modern theory tends to interpret the corpse drive in Xiangxi in this way: according to expert research, the local roads are narrow and only one person is allowed to walk. In order to transport the corpse, the corpse drivers used two long bamboo poles to carry the corpse through a row of corpse sleeves, and both ends were carried by a strong man like a sedan chair. However, because the corpse drivers wear black clothes at night, passers-by naturally can't see the corpse drivers and think there are zombies. Because bamboo is elastic, the corpse driver will swing up and down when carrying the corpse, so there is an image of a zombie jumping with both hands. At night, it's like a group of people stretching out their hands and jumping forward with their knees straight, and the legend of driving the body spread like wildfire. This statement also explains why people who eat corpses should be at least 170 cm and strong, because only in this way can they have enough strength and height to carry the dead all the way home.

Zombies in movies

Main item: Zombie film

Zombies are a very popular theme in Hong Kong films in the1980s, as the representative of the zombie leader series in Ching-Ying Lam. In movies, putting a symbol on a zombie's forehead can make the zombie fall asleep. Similarly, in movies, zombies always wear the official uniforms of the Qing Dynasty, always straighten their arms forward and generally jump forward. However, zombies in the west are different from those in the Qing Dynasty. They can stretch their arms at will and walk in human form.

In addition, in the geomantic custom of Chinese architecture, a wooden board (threshold) about 15cm high is usually installed under the gate to prevent zombies from jumping into the house.
