This car is under annual review. Is there anything to pay attention to in exhaust emission testing?
During the annual inspection of vehicles, some private car owners will encounter unqualified exhaust emission tests, and the owners will feel very innocent. A common saying is that the car is made in China, the oil is made in China, and the exhaust gas is unqualified. Why let the owner carry this pot?
When it comes to unqualified exhaust emission detection, there are two main situations. One is that the exhaust emission is unqualified because of burning engine oil, and the other is that the harmful gas in the exhaust exceeds the limit value in the standard, which leads to unqualified emission.
If car owners and friends can pay more attention to the following points in their usual driving and maintenance, they can effectively prevent the exhaust gas from failing to meet the standard. Let's have a look!
1. Use qualified gasoline.
The quality of gasoline in China is uneven. In order to pursue more profits, some unscrupulous merchants have mixed many things into gasoline, such as water, diesel, ether and methanol. How to simply judge the quality of oil products?
Look: gasoline color, tail gas color, volatility.
Good quality gasoline is light yellow in color and looks clear and bright, with no floating objects on the surface, no suspended matter in the middle and no sediment at the bottom. The darker the color of gasoline, the worse the quality.
The tail gas is darker or whiter than usual, indicating that the oil quality is not good.
Take a small amount of gasoline and put it in the air. If the volatility is good, the oil is relatively better.
Smell: the smell of gasoline, the smell of tail gas.
Good gasoline has no pungent smell. If there is a pungent smell, it means that the sulfur content in gasoline exceeds the standard.
After the qualified gasoline is burned, the exhaust gas has no unpleasant smell, and the smell also indicates that the oil is not good.
Touch: Is it sticky?
Qualified gasoline is not sticky. Dip in a little gasoline and rub gently with your index finger and thumb. If it feels sticky like engine oil, it means that the engine oil is not good.
Ratio: fuel economy
Good gasoline can drive a few more miles, usually run more gas stations, compare them, and finally choose a better one.
Using inferior gasoline will not only cause carbon deposition in the engine, but also damage the three-way catalyst, reduce its efficiency and even fail.
2. Regular maintenance, choose better quality engine oil.
Improper use of engine oil will directly accelerate the aging of piston rings and the wear of cylinder pistons, leading to engine oil combustion.
Therefore, according to the instruction manual, choose the engine oil suitable for this car, and the viscosity should be moderate.
In addition, the large throttle of cold car will also lead to abnormal wear of cylinder piston. Don't slam on the accelerator after ignition.
3. Pay attention to check the three-way catalyst at ordinary times.
Three-way catalytic converter
Three-way catalytic converter is a post-treatment device for automobile exhaust, which can convert harmful substances such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides in exhaust into harmless substances such as water and carbon dioxide.
Three-way catalytic converter
If the surface of the three-way catalyst is damaged by dents, you can kick or shake the three-way catalyst with your feet. If you can hear something shaking inside, it means that the carrier of the three-way catalyst is broken and needs to be replaced.
In addition, the oxygen sensor should be inspected and cleaned regularly.
4. Develop good driving habits.
When the car is cold, don't step on the accelerator vigorously, and preheat it at idle speed.
Driving in fuel-saving mode, don't drive at high speed often, it will lead to overheating of the three-way catalyst.
Regular maintenance, oil and mechanical filters must meet the requirements, and carbon deposits in the engine should be cleaned regularly.
If you often drive in harsh environment, the air filter must be cleaned or replaced regularly.
To sum up, using good quality fuel, regular inspection and maintenance, and developing good driving habits, exhaust gas detection is generally no problem.
