The poor scholar found a treasure trove of geomantic omen and deliberately tried to die in order to be buried here. Since then, family talents have come forth in large numbers.
In ancient times, people were superstitious about the theory of geomantic omen. After death, they had to be buried in a place with good geomantic omen, thinking that future generations could prosper. Until now, many rural people still believe this statement. In the Southern Song Dynasty, a poor scholar who knew the art of geomancy stumbled upon a treasure trove of geomantic omen, but he had no money to buy it. However, for the sake of his future generations, this scholar risked his life.
This scholar is called Pan Congyuan. His tomb is located in Wuli Pass at the junction of Xingguo and wanan county in Jiangxi Province. It has been well preserved so far, and people come to worship him every year. The descendants of the owner of this tomb are talented. Later, many people were dignitaries, and even now there are descendants who are officials.
Pan Congyuan's ancestral home is in Tingzhou, Fujian Province. He once served as an Oracle in Jizhou, Jiangxi Province. When Pan Congyuan was young, he studied hard and was familiar with poetry and books. He was very knowledgeable, but he never achieved fame. Therefore, even if you have a public office, you are still down and out. Pan Congyuan has a specialty, that is, he is proficient in the art of geomancy and understands Feng Shui.
When Pan Congyuan retired and returned to his hometown, he found a treasure trove. I think that as long as I bury myself here, my descendants will be able to get ahead. In fact, it is not the first time that he has discovered this place. Every time he goes home, he passes by this place and is deeply attracted by a big mountain here. Until now, I feel hopeless when I go home, so I want to find a way out for my children and grandchildren.
But he couldn't even afford a cemetery, so he came up with an idea. In the summer of the following year, Pan Congyuan came here again with his teenage child Pan Tong, lived in a temple, and told his children that if he died, he must bury it in the "Longkou" and pointed out the place to him.
Pan Congyuan bought several cows in advance, and drove them to people's rice fields in the middle of the night. When they got up in the morning, the villagers found that their rice was ruined by cows. Pan Congyuan not only didn't apologize for this, but also was very arrogant and rude, so the angry villagers killed him in a rage.
Pan Shan saw that his father had died, so he had to take the villagers with him to see the official. When these villagers heard that they were going to get into a lawsuit, they were very afraid, so they had to ask the old people in the village to mediate. After mediation, the old people in the village never decided to let the child choose any place in the village land to bury his father. Therefore, after Pan Congyuan's death, he finally got what he wanted, and was buried by his son in the land of feng shui that he liked.
A few years after Pan Congyuan's death, his son, Pan Tong, was chosen as the top scholar by Song Lizong. Since then, the descendants of the Pan family are also talented people. Later, the land buried by Pan Congyuan was named "Zhuangyuan Jiashan" and left an allusion of "predestined relationship to get land, seeking prosperity by death" in the local area.
