The regulating valve should be operated in cold state. First, remove the cylinder head cover or valve cover, turn the magneto counterclockwise, align the T-dash line of the magneto rotor with the engine box mark, so that the piston is at the compression top dead center and the valve rocker arm is in a relaxed state, and then check the valve clearance. If the valve clearance is incorrect, loosen the lock nut of the adjusting screw of the valve rocker arm, adjust the valve clearance to the specified value with a feeler gauge, and then tighten the lock nut.
