What Buddhist festivals are there in Myanmar?

Gatina Festival

Commonly known as Xi Shi Festival, it is an important annual traditional festival for Buddhists in Myanmar.

Katina Festival is an activity held on auspicious days from July 16 (Dedian month) to August 15 (Desan Dream month) in the Myanmar calendar (equivalent to about 1 1 month). During the festival, Buddhists gather together to pay tribute to the Buddha and offer money, robes, food and daily necessities to the Buddhist temple.

On June 5438+065438+1October 12, 2008, Buddhists carefully made exquisite gift racks and carried them into the temple by dancing. They worship the monks in the temple, and the monks will preach, drop water and bless them. After the ceremony, let's have dinner together and have a wonderful holiday together.

Festivals like this are sacred and glorious to Buddhists, and they will always remember them in their hearts. Therefore, every Buddhist believer in Myanmar will attend such a festival.

According to legend, the origin of Katina Festival is more than 540 years ago, when some Buddhist monks went up the mountain to worship Buddha Sakyamuni. It rained heavily that day, and it was very difficult for monks to climb the mountain in the rain. It took many days to find the Buddha. When they found the Buddha, they were all tired and hungry, and their clothes were wet, dirty and smelly. So the Buddha changed their clothes, blessed them after the lecture and prepared food for them.

In this way, in order to commemorate this fact, Buddhist believers chose an auspicious day after the harvest to offer money, robes and food to the monks in the temple, which has been passed down from generation to generation and has continued to this day.
