Legend of Lianyungang Yunwu Tea
The Legend of Yunwu Tea
A family named Zhang lives next to Wuzheng Temple in Sucheng. Their daily life is very poor, and they can only survive by raising chickens to lay eggs and farming in the mountains. Once, Old Man Zhang went to the chicken coop for three days in a row without finding an egg. So he asked Zen Master Wuzheng of Wuzheng Temple to exorcise evil spirits and catch ghosts. Monk Wu Zheng agreed and got pebbles that looked like eggs and placed them in the chicken coop. Want to use deception to catch the devil.
When the monk was watching at night until dawn, he saw a big snake swimming into the chicken coop. It swallowed more than a dozen pebbles in one breath and fell to the ground in discomfort. It rolled around for a while and then swam to Wuzheng. Next to a small tree in the bushes to the east of the nunnery, it opened its big mouth and swallowed up almost all the leaves of the small tree. In a moment, he swam away into the distance. Monk Wu Zheng immediately realized that the leaves of this tree had such a strong function of aiding digestion. After careful observation, he picked some of the remaining leaves and made tea. This is Yunwu Tea, which can melt stones. From then on, the monks of Wuzheng'an collected and brewed the tea every year, and received two or three kilograms per year. They kept a close eye on people and regarded it as a precious tea to entertain distinguished guests.
Occasionally one day a guest dressed as a businessman came, holding a feather fan and looking majestic, followed by a book boy carrying a burden. The old monk introduced the guests into the room and ordered the young monk to take out their refined cloud tea. Just brew it with boiling water. In an instant, the aroma of tea overflowed, hot mist filled the room, and the whole room was filled with mist. The guests repeatedly praised: "Good tea! Good tea!" While drinking tea, he chanted: "There is a fairy nunnery on Sucheng Mountain, and there is a fairy nunnery in the clouds and mist." The fragrance overflows in the clouds and mist, and the fragrance overflows the Sucheng Mountain. The old monk quickly clasped his hands and thanked him: "The donor is so talented. This palindrome poem describes my little nunnery so wonderfully. Please give me more calligraphy treasures!" "The guest also impromptuly raised his pen and quickly wrote four big characters, "Dragon Tuan Feng Cake", and below it there were two lines of small characters: "Inscribed on the Cloud and Mist Tea Book in Sucheng Mountain." When the old monk took a look, he knew that this was the imperial pen of Emperor Qianlong. p>
From then on, the tea from Sucheng Mountain was called "Yunwu Tea", also known as "Dragon Tuan Feng Cake". In the late spring of the next year, the old monk carefully made two pounds of Yunwu Tea and sent it to Beijing as a tribute to Qianlong. When the emperor heard about it, he met with the monk specifically. From then on, the old monk paid tribute to the imperial court every year! It can be seen that the Yunwu tea in Sucheng Township was personally recommended by Emperor Qianlong! Such magical effects, coupled with monk Wu Zheng's frequent relief of stomach upset, fever and other illnesses, over time, the secret recipe of Yunwu tea was introduced to the people.
