The origin of Yingpan Mountain
The mountainside of Yingpan Mountain is flat, with gurgling spring water and abundant firewood. During the Yi people's uprising in Ailao Mountain in 1856, Marshal Li Wenxue conducted many on-the-spot inspections and finally decided that Shaoxiangsi Mountain was the first line of defense for the base camp (today's Niujie Township Government Residency in Midu County), and sent a unit of the rebel army here. The troops were stationed there, so it was also called "Yingpanshan".
The two peaks of Yingpan Mountain and the back mountain of the base camp are close to each other across the river. As long as there is any movement, the tall bamboo poles on the two peaks will signal different signals, and the other side will know the changes in the enemy's situation and the situation. Coping strategies.
In addition to relying on the geographical location, Marshal Li also focused on people and harmony. The nearby mountains are the heartland of the Yi people. The insurgents and the people have a deep friendship, so they built fortifications - trenches on this geomantic treasure land that is easy to defend but difficult to attack. The trenches are crisscrossed, some straight, some winding up to the top of the mountain. After 150 years, the trench is covered with big trees, but its direction is clearly discernible.
In order to respect this land and this mountain, the Yi people have used unlit "dry incense" instead of "dry incense" for the fire safety of the camp since Marshal Li set up camp. People are no longer used to calling Shaoxiangsi Mountain, but naturally call it Yingpan Mountain.
