Introduction to Lushan Scenic Area
The Lushan Botanical Garden Scenic Area covers an area of 7,000 acres, running along the main tour path through the entire park to the foot of Guanyun Peak. The park has abundant water resources, fertile soil, a good microclimate and luxuriant plant growth. In recent years, 1,100 plant species have been cultivated and introduced. Up to now, the green bamboo garden, chestnut garden, magnolia garden, pine and cypress garden, black locust garden, red leaf garden and other parks have begun to take shape. The metasequoia and ginkgo in the park are national level I key protected plants; Chinese zoysia, wild soybean, and linden are national level II key protected plants; there are three species of plants listed in the "Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora"; There are 4 species of plants listed in the "Red Data Book of Rare and Endangered Plants in China" and 26 species listed in the "Rare and Endangered Protected Plants of Shandong Province". The Lushan Cloud Ladder is a step carved out of a steep bare rock boulder. It is not as long as the Shibapan of Mount Tai, but more dangerous than the Shibapan. There are a total of 302 steps in the ladder, which means to wish everyone "progress step by step and good luck one after another". After climbing more than ten steps of the ladder, as long as you stamp your feet hard, you will hear a crisp echo coming from the stone steps, which makes people applaud.
The Ten Thousand Stones Maze covers an area of more than 300 acres and is divided into the South Palace, the Middle Palace and the North Palace. The roads and caves in the maze are connected, making it complex, confusing, and unusually deep
The maze is a natural support hole formed by the accumulation of countless huge and round "stone eggs", which is called "stone egg landform" in geology. Such stone egg landforms located at an altitude of nearly 1,000 meters and gathered over a large area are very rare in North China. Lushan Skyline is about 100 meters long and 20 meters high. It is only wide enough for a person to pass by. According to expert research, it is unique in North China. Only by crossing the sky can we fully appreciate the artistic conception of "a ray of light penetrates the stone gap, and the eternal scenery lingers in the world".
Standing on the Dragon Watching Platform, I turned around and looked back. The "Maze of Ten Thousand Stones" I just passed through turned into a giant dragon, entrenched among the green trees and pines. I saw it raising its head to the sky, its tail raised high, its scales and claws flying, and it was about to fly away. This mountain is "Wolong Mountain". Wolong Mountain captures the creation of heaven and earth, with ghost axes and magical craftsmanship. The blue dragon is lifelike and natural, which is breathtaking. There are two theories about the origin of the name Lushan.
Our Shandong is also known as the land of Qi and Lu. In the Spring and Autumn Period, the capital of Qi State was Linzi, and the capital of Lu State was Qufu. Lushan is located in the east
north of Lu State, so it is named Dongshan. At that time, Confucius "climbed Dongshan and made Lu small, climbed Taishan and made the world small." Dongshan was also on the border of Lu, so it was renamed Lushan.
Another theory is that in the late Spring and Autumn Period, Duke Ai of Lu, the king of Lu, ordered Lu Ban to build a palace for him within 6 months. The palace is huge and needs some big wood, but where to find it? So, Lu Ban led several craftsmen to travel across mountains and rivers, and visited many places but could not find the wood they needed. Finally one day, they walked into a mountain forest. There were rugged rocks, towering ancient trees, and there were many big trees where three people hugged each other. This made them very happy. After asking about it, they found out that the name of this mountain was Dongshan. At that time, the tools they used were axes. It was very difficult to cut down such a thick tree, and the work progressed very slowly. Seeing this, Lu Ban was very anxious. One day, when they went up the mountain again, the road was slippery because it had just rained. Lu Ban accidentally slipped and grabbed a clump of thatch next to him. When he regained his footing, he found that his finger was scratched. What scratched your finger? Lu Ban picked up the blade of grass and observed it carefully, and found that there was a row of sharp teeth on the edge of the leaf, so he invented a saw based on this principle and successfully completed the cutting task. In order to commemorate Lu Ban, people renamed Dongshan Mountain Luban Mountain, and later it was gradually shortened to Lushan Mountain. The origin of Zaoshu Valley is Lushan Scenic Area
It is said that during the Northern and Southern Dynasties, King Liang came to Lushan from Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou, thousands of miles away, to pay a visit to Zen Master Zhigong. Passing here, he was The curved needle of the jujube tree caught the dragon robe. King Liang was furious and ordered the curved needle to straighten out. The needle of the jujube tree had no choice but to stretch out. The king of Liang was so happy that he named this place "Jujube Tree". valley".
However, because the jujube trees grew relatively short and their curved needles straightened, they were bullied by many large trees. In a fit of anger, the jujube trees all moved to the plains north of the Yellow River. Since then, no jujube trees have been seen here, but the name of Zaoshuyu has been passed down. According to legend, Zen Master Zhigong, who once served as a national teacher to Emperor Wu of Liang Dynasty, was the founder of Lushan. There are two young apprentices who follow him to practice real skills and devote themselves to Taoism. Three years later, Zhi Gong was going to travel. Before leaving, he gave a ginseng baby to his two apprentices and asked them to boil it at home for eighty-one days, and then refine the elixir when he came back. After Zhigong left, the two young apprentices watched the stove and cooked. On the 7749th day, they became impatient. The tantalizing aroma made them forget the master's instructions, so they took out the ginseng baby and divided it into pieces. Eaten. At this time, Zhigong happened to be halfway back to the mountain. He felt that the situation was not good and hurried back. The two young apprentices saw their master coming back from a distance. They were afraid of being blamed and ran away. When they reached the Ascension Platform, their bodies flew up into the sky. Although these two young disciples also ascended to heaven and became immortals, in the end they did not concentrate on their cultivation and could not achieve the true fruit of Bodhi. They could only become little-known immortals. Later, people named this stone Shengxian Terrace.
According to legend, when King Liang led his troops to fight through Lushan, everyone was very thirsty due to the hot weather. The king of Liang sent people out to look for water, but they all returned without success. The soldiers were unwilling to leave, and the march was interrupted. King Liang was very anxious. He jumped off his horse and sat down on the ground. It didn't matter. After a while, spring water gurgled out from the place where he sat. Look carefully, everyone. Does the area around the mouth of the spring look like someone has been sitting there? Tuochan Temple was built during the reign of Emperor Wu of Liang during the Northern and Southern Dynasties, more than 1,400 years ago. It is the most popular temple in the Lushan area. Every year on March 15th of the lunar calendar, there is a temple fair in Lushan, where tens of thousands of pilgrims gather from all over. The origin of the name of Tuochan Temple is that Zhigong used donkeys to carry scriptures from Hangzhou, and ten donkeys died from exhaustion along the way. Zhigong said that the donkeys had merit in carrying scriptures, so he named the temple Tuochan Temple. Another theory is that the entire mountain range of Mount Lu is in the shape of a dragon, and the temple is built on the back of the dragon. The dragon carries the temple, so it is called Tuochan Temple.
