Zoige has always been the main road leading to Gansu and Qingdao, and it is the important town of North Road in Aba Prefecture. It is located in the triangle of Hehuang Valley in the north, Minjiang River and Dadu River in the south, or Jialing River in the east, reaching Sichuan Basin. It plays an important role in transportation and trade. It has always been the frontier of exchanges and integration between the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the mainland, and it is also a battleground for military strategists.
In prehistoric times, Zoige was an important place for the ancient Qiang people, an important national source of the Chinese nation. It belongs to Xirong. The pre-Qin period was the place under the jurisdiction of Qiang Rong, a branch of Hequ. In the Northern and Southern Dynasties, it belonged to Tuguhun. It was held in Songzhou in the early Tang Dynasty. In the twelfth year of Zhenguan, it was occupied by Tubo. In the Yuan Dynasty, it was established in Qiu Ji Township. The Ming Dynasty belonged to Songpan Wei. Song presided over the Qing Dynasty1June, 953, Zoige Baozuo Administrative Committee was established as a transitional county-level administrative organization.
1July, 956, the county was officially established, and it belongs to Aba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. According to legend, during the period of Chi Zudezan (8 15-838), a Tibetan king in his forties, he sent his minister Gay Sidaji to conquer the border and stationed in the present Zoige area. His descendant, Ruobagaiden, was in charge of money and grain taxation, and the people called him "Ruogai" for short, so he was named Zoige, and later developed into Zoige Nenwa and Zoige Doma. At the same time, Zoige is also an important part of Amdo Cultural Zone, one of the three regions of Tibetan culture.
