Rice weevil belongs to COLEOPTERA, Elephantidae, also known as Mi Chong and Gu Niu. It is a completely abnormal insect, and its life experience is four development forms: egg → larva → pupa → adult. It is the main pest of stored grain, mainly parasitic in aged grain stored for 2~3 years, such as corn, rice, wheat, sorghum, flour and so on. Its adults eat grain particles, and its larvae eat the inside of grain.
Because of its rapid growth and reproduction, its geographical distribution can be spread all over the world, but it is mainly distributed in the south in China. In recent years, the harm of rice weevil has become more serious.
morphological character
Eggs: oblong with a little swelling at one end. The egg is about 0.6 mm ~0.7 mm long and 0.28 mm ~0.29 mm wide, translucent and milky white.
Larvae: the body length is about 2.5 mm ~4.5 mm, the whole body is milky white, with a shell, a short oval shell, a light brown head and a wide top area; The internal ridge is straight, with equal thickness at both ends, close to a straight line; The base of the lip protrudes laterally and is small, and the front end is slightly pointed.
The lateral carina of the upper part of the oral cavity is long, which can almost extend to the third and fifth bristles of the frontal area; The upper lip is rod-shaped, and the middle leaf is not prominent; Without gait, the larva's abdomen is enlarged, but the abdomen is straight and the back is curved, with 13 nodes, and each node has many stripes.
