God’s will and merit are related to each other. Good deeds, good words, and good results can create merit, and when merit is bestowed upon others, it is God's will. The law of heaven is that good and evil karma cannot cancel each other out! That is, good deeds give good rewards, and bad deeds give bad rewards. As long as there is bad karma, there will be disaster. Even the great good karma cannot offset even the small evil karma! Even when God's will provides great blessings to great good deeds, he will still receive the disastrous consequences of bad deeds.
