The legend of Shougou Ridge
When the Qing Dynasty was founded, a qualified national teacher arrived in Guangzhou and saw the Yuexiu and Baiyun mountains covered with steaming clouds and fog, and the dragon's aura soaring into the sky. He immediately noticed the clues of the old Dragon King. He immediately reported to the Holy Emperor and requested that troops be sent to destroy the Dragon King. "If nothing is done, the emperor will surely appear one day." Since then, there has been an allusion to "cannon attack Shougouling".
However, due to the limited special funds of the imperial court at that time for "bombarding Shougouling" and the layers of exploitation by the officials in charge, very little money was actually spent on the idea. Every year's "bombing" is just a formality: it starts with the sound of a gong to clear the way, and ends with a few cold shots. After decades, only a few scales of the old Dragon King were injured. However, it took the old Dragon King more than two hundred years to heal these injured dragon scales. After his body recovered, he selected Mr. Sun Yat-sen, a Hakka talent who was closely related to Xingmei Longxue, and secretly appointed He Ziyuan, He Tianjiong, He Gongbo, Liao Zhongkai and other princes, as well as countless people with lofty ideals in China. With the help of the Qing dynasty, it took a lot of effort and cooperation from inside and outside to overthrow the Manchu dynasty and establish the Republic of China. Avenging the unjust and damning revenge of the "bombardment of Shougouling"...
Note: "Shougouling" is located in Niu Miangang outside the east gate of Guangzhou. It was the "Guangdong Army" founded by Sun Yat-sen himself. The location of the Cemetery of the Fallen Soldiers of the First Division. It is also the resting place of He Guanzhong, the sixth brother of He Ziyuan, a veteran of the Revolution of 1911, the founder of modern education in China, and a member of the Jiaying Prefecture Alliance of the Tongmenghui. He Guanzhong, the highest-ranking senior general of the Cantonese army who died in the battle, is buried in the Cemetery of the First Division of the Cantonese Army in Shougouling. .
He Ziyuan, He Tianjiong, He Gongbo, Liao Zhongkai and other princes are all Mr. Sun Yat-sen's "sand pot" brothers. In 1905, Dr. Sun Yat-sen founded the "Tongmenghui" in Tokyo, Japan, and were the first members to join the alliance. Yuexiu and Baiyun Mountains were also called "Guanyin Mountains" in the old days and were hailed as sacred mountains by Guangdong people. Guangzhou Shougouling is located at the southern foot of Baiyun Mountain. It is shaped like a skinny dog with its head facing northwest and tail facing southeast. If you stand on Baiyun Mountain and look at it, you will see that this dog is even more skinny and lonely. You can even count every rib on the dog's body. It is called Shougouling. But the strange thing is that in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, the court spent a lot of manpower and material resources to bombard it every year. Why? It turns out there is a ridiculous legend. During the Hongzhi period of the Ming Dynasty, Lun Wenxu, a talented scholar from Guangdong, won the first prize, which aroused the jealousy of some people in the court. These people deliberately spread a ballad: "There is a crouching dragon on the top of the Skinny Dog Mountain. Thirteen years later it will soar towards the sky. Gold and fire conquer the empire, and the sun shines in Guangdong." Within a few days, this ballad reached Emperor Hongzhi, causing the emperor to feel uneasy. , immediately summoned the ministers of civil and military affairs for discussion.
Ma Shuicheng, the minister of the DPRK, took the opportunity and said: "A large hole suddenly sank in Shogouling, Guangdong. It was unfathomable, and an auspicious cloud floated out of the hole. A Feng Shui master predicted that the dragon spirit in Shogouling would Wang, thirteen years from now, there will be a golden dragon rising out of the sky. If you don't do it right, the Ming Dynasty will be very lucky... Liu Jin, the eunuch chief, also quickly agreed. The two guys sang in harmony. Seeing that the emperor was doubtful, he encouraged the emperor to call the Feng Shui master. Ask. Mr. Feng Shui was a greedy man. He had already obtained money from those traitorous ministers, so he naturally made nonsense in front of the emperor and deliberately said that in thirteen years, an emperor would be born in Guangdong. Hongzhi was so frightened that his face changed. The Feng Shui master pretended to be mysterious and said that it was not difficult to break the royal aura in Shougouling. As long as local officials were sent to bombard Shougouling with cannons every frost day for three consecutive years, the royal aura there would be destroyed. p>
The emperor immediately gave the order and ordered Gao Feng, the governor of Guangdong, to attack Shougouling for three consecutive years. All expenses will be paid by the court.
Gao Feng laughed as soon as he received the imperial edict. He smiled and the stupid emperor actually believed in those heresies, and Erxiao could take advantage of the opportunity to make a fortune. So Gao Feng led the soldiers with cannons and boasted along the street. When they arrived at Shougouling, they fired a few shots at random. When he presented the memorial to the imperial court, in order to defraud more money, Gao Feng's memorial confuses the names of streets in Guangzhou City to show that the bombardment of Shougouling is a long way and expensive. Wrote:
"Starting from Jiangjun Yamen, passing by the Sipai Tower, the breeze blows over the bright moon.
I heard that someone saw it later and it was much thinner than before and turned into a skinny dog. Although it is as skinny as a stick, it still barks every night, making corrupt officials frightened and corrupt rulers in panic all day long. In order to commemorate its great achievements, people named the small hill near Shahe Shougouling, and it has been called Shougou Ridge to this day.
Because people in government offices are afraid of it, so every time a new official takes office, they will bombard Shougouling. One is to show their prestige, and the other is to fabricate military expenditures and ask for silver from the court. , what to say: "From Little Horse Station to Big Horse Station, from Xiaosha River to Dasha River, it's thousands of miles away." A conquest would cost tens of thousands of taels of silver. In fact, Xiaoma Station and Dama Station are located in Guangzhou City (today's Zhongshan 5th Road), only a dozen miles away from Shahe Town. Later, Emperor Qianlong had a national advisor who said that Shougouling was a holy land and that the True Dragon Emperor was going to appear. If the suppression was not stepped up, the Qing Dynasty would not be stable. So the bombardment was changed to once a year, which gradually became a routine. Those corrupt officials also defrauded more money. The old custom of bombarding Shougouling was not abolished until the Qing Dynasty was overthrown. In 1916, Guangzhou was occupied by the Guangxi warlords. In August 1920, Sun Yat-sen ordered generals Deng Zhongyuan and He Guanzhong of the Fujian-Guangdong Army to return to Guangdong from Fujian and expel the Guangxi warlord Mo Rongxin. At the end of the year, Chen Jiongming arrived in the eastern suburbs and fought a decisive battle with the Guangxi army of more than 10,000 people in the Shougouling area, defeating the Gui army. Sun Yat-sen returned to Guangzhou at the end of the year and took office as the Extraordinary President in May 1921, establishing the new government of the Republic of China.
