Geomantic omen of Longyou Grottoes in Zhejiang Province
Longyou Grottoes, located at the foot of Fenghuang Mountain in Longyou County, Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province, is about 10 minutes' drive from Longyou County. At present, it is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, and you can go sightseeing without tickets except on weekends. Longyou Grottoes is an unsolved mystery because its construction date and purpose are unknown, and its scale is very spectacular, so it is praised as "the ninth wonder of the world" by local people. The name alone has attracted many people.
Longyou Grottoes were discovered by local farmers in 1992. At that time, it was still a "bottomless pond". In order to find out, four local farmers pumped water continuously for 17 days, and the underground grottoes for more than a thousand years finally appeared in front of the world, attracting many scientists, experts and scholars at home and abroad to investigate and study here. But today, its construction year and purpose are still a mystery, which also makes Longyou Grottoes.
Speaking of the history of Longyou Grottoes, some experts believe that it can be traced back to 2 12 BC or even longer. As for the specific year, it is still unknown. Its huge underground complex is the largest ancient underground man-made building found in the world so far, which fully embodies the exquisite architectural level in ancient China. This is a miracle of underground architecture and an unsolved mystery.
At present, there are 24 grottoes, each with a different shape and size. However, each grotto is vertically extended from top to bottom by a rectangular hole with a drop of about 30 meters, which is very similar to a funnel. Therefore, some experts assert that it is a grotto formed by ancient people taking stones from mountains, which is very similar to the artificial stone-taking grottoes distributed in Zhejiang this generation. Of course, there are also people who object. After all, the modeling here is too artificial.
At present, there are seven caves in Longyou Grottoes for tourists to visit. The engineering, models, shapes, patterns and styles of these seven caves are basically the same, all from the same era or the same group of people. Among them, the smallest grotto is about 300 square meters and the largest grotto is 2000 square meters. There are three stone pillars supporting the grottoes, and there is a rectangular square pool in the middle of the grottoes. The overall shape looks seamless, and the gaps on the stone wall are particularly uniform. It is hard to imagine how the ancients built it without any modern mechanical tools.
After the discovery, it experienced the hype of many media, experts and scholars, and also cast a mysterious veil on this grotto. Some people think that this is a quarry, a group of tombs, and a post station for the revenge of the King of Yue. Others think it is a repository, a Taoist paradise and an underground pyramid. Some people even think that this is the base of UFOs. There were different opinions for a while, but so far this unsolved mystery has not been solved.
At present, Longyou Grottoes has become a national 4A-level tourist attraction, and has been protected by certain measures. It may even apply for the idea of "World Cultural Heritage" in the future. After all, it was left to us by the ancients, representing the superb engineering technology, culture and art in ancient times, which may be of great help to the study of ancient civilization.
Speaking of humanities, a group of patterns were also found on the stone wall of Cave 1, which is the only grotto with stone wall patterns among many grottoes. There is a group of animal carving patterns of "fish, horses and birds" on the stone wall not far from the entrance to the grottoes, which is amazing. Is this a symbol of today's "land, sea and air"? But this is still a mystery.
No matter when it was built or what it was used for, Longyou Grottoes have appeared in people's sight. In addition to being amazed, it is more awe of the exquisite skills of the ancients. Even in the "quarry" of the ancients, such superb quarrying skills have to be felt.
I don't know. Have you ever been to or heard of Longyou Grottoes in Quzhou, Zhejiang? What do you think this underground wonder was built for at that time? Welcome to leave a comment.
