The origin of Shennongjia is related to the story of Shennong tasting hundreds of herbs: In ancient times, Shennong found a mountain in order to taste hundreds of herbs. When he saw the steep mountain, he thought there must be some magic medicine. He first taught the people to "build wood houses to avoid danger"; followed the people's teachings and "used wood as ladders to help them climb higher"; he collected 400 kinds of medicine and wrote "Shen Nong's Materia Medica". In order to commemorate him, later generations called this mountain Shennongjia.

My friend told me that Shennongjia has a mysterious beauty, and there are clouds there that are within reach. So, I was full of longing for that scene, wanting to explore the primitive mysteries there and experience what it felt like to be in the clouds within reach.

However, things are unpredictable, and my friend who agreed to go with me was never heard from again. But the expectations in my heart have not dropped at all. I always want to go there, maybe for a concern, an expectation, a surprise, or an end.

So, in this early summer, we started our 5-day trip to Shennongjia, Hubei together with my sister who just had the desire to travel.

Hubei is relatively far from Shanghai. If you choose to travel independently and drive on rugged mountain roads, it will be difficult to ensure the safety of the two people during the journey. It is easier to join a 5-day group tour on Ctrip (the tour fee is 2,550 yuan per person, including all transportation, accommodation, all tickets, boat tickets, and meals for the middle three days). In addition to time constraints and freedom of movement, peace of mind and convenience are the biggest advantages. Besides that, visiting the Three Gorges Dam and the scenery along the Yangtze River is another feeling.

There is always a gap between imagination and reality. The imagined Shennongjia should be an endless mountain. Pedestrians walk along the creek in the canyon, surrounded by dense vegetation and sometimes golden monkeys. They playfully ask tourists for food and play all the way, accompanied by the gentle mountain breeze. Fresh air is breathed into the nose. The further you go into the mountains, the more comfortable and peaceful you become. But the reality is that tourists take tour buses, drive along winding mountain roads, stop briefly at scenic spots, and then go to another scenic spot. They do not have the freedom to walk and have close contact with the wild and unruly nature of wild mountains. The long driving time also somewhat disrupts the investment and concentration of the tour. It's not more charming to go at sunset or dusk.

Perhaps, Shennongjia is vast, broad, deep and dotted with scenic spots, and it needs such a winding mountain road to realize it. But no matter what, I finally unveiled her mysterious veil and finally appreciated her unique beauty.

DAY 1

Shanghai-Yichang

D2216 departs from Shanghai at 8:39 and arrives in Yichang at 16:38. Because of my sister’s company, my long journey came to an end unknowingly while chatting. After being picked up by the tour guide Ctrip, we arrived at the train station and checked into the Guomao Hotel.

Due to an accident on the train, my sister’s left neck was sprained, causing pain and swelling. After resting for a while, I went to a nearby drugstore to buy Yunnan Baiyao aerosol, and then enjoyed my first Yichang dish at a restaurant near the hotel.

After dinner, we walked west along Jiyun Road to Binjiang Park when the sun was setting. Looking at the end of the Yangtze River from a distance, the sunset slowly sets in the west, and red clouds accumulate, dyeing the western sky and the river surface red, emitting a soft golden light, bloody like fire, extremely spectacular.

On the Independence River, I accidentally remembered a saying: "People say that the sunset is the horizon. If you forget the horizon, you will not be able to see your home." People who live far away will think of their families when they see the sunset. Who am I missing at this time?

DAY 2

Yichang - Three Gorges Dam - Shennongjia Natural Bridge

After a simple breakfast at the hotel, a group of 14 people took a car along the Three Gorges Dam Special Highway to the Three Gorges Dam reservoir area.

The Three Gorges Dam is the largest water conservancy project in the world today. Construction officially started in 1994 and was completed in 2006. The dam is a concrete gravity dam with a total crest length of 3,035 meters, a crest elevation of 185 meters, a normal water storage level of 175 meters, and a total storage capacity of 39.3 billion cubic meters, which can withstand a once-in-a-century flood. After lunch, the vehicle first drove on the bumpy road and then drove on the highway. Finally, we reach Shennongjia Scenic Area via Ecological Road. The whole journey takes about 4 hours.

Shennongjia is known as the "Roof of Central China". The forest area is characterized by overlapping mountains, criss-crossing ravines, deep valleys and steep slopes. The terrain is high in the southwest and low in the northeast. It is a place with the primitive forest scenery as the background, the legend of Shennong and the simple mountain dwelling culture as the connotation, integrating strange trees, strange flowers, strange caves, strange peaks, and strange folk customs, embodying primitive antiquity, adventure, and adventure. In addition, Shennongjia is also a natural oxygen bar, with 160,000 negative oxygen ions per cubic centimeter.

The attraction we want to visit in the afternoon is Tiansheng Bridge. The Tianqiao Waterfall pours down from the natural bridge on the cliff, just like the Milky Way, with jade beads splashing, showing thousands of styles; the Temple of Heaven and the Temple of Earth are crystal clear, with various strange rocks in the pool and groups of fish swimming freely, making people feel relaxed and happy.

It is almost dusk after visiting Tiansheng Bridge Scenic Area . After dinner, we arrived at Shennong Villa in Muyu Town. The hotel is the second largest hotel in Muyu Town. Located on a high slope, the overall hardware facilities are good and the rooms are spacious. From the hotel, I could overlook the green hills opposite.

Muyu Town Muyu Town is located in the south of Shennongjia, at an altitude of 1,200 meters and has a long history. It is an important node and tourist distribution center on Hubei's "One River and Two Mountains" golden tourism line. You can buy some local specialties to take home. The main local specialties include: organic tea, walnuts, kiwi fruit, chestnuts, mushrooms, honey, medicinal materials, etc.

DAY 3

Shennongjia-Shennong Valley, _Wangta, Shennongding, Liangfengya, Slate, Dajiu Lake, Xiaolongtan.

After getting up, looking out the window, you will still see the spotless blue sky.

After breakfast, take the shuttle bus, drive along the winding mountain highway for 20 minutes, arrive at the visitor center, and transfer to the scenic tour bus. The first stop is Golden Monkey Creek. There are quiet valleys, winding paths, mountain flowers everywhere, lush trees wrapped with ivy, and gurgling springs accompanied by chirping birds. People can't help but think of the artistic conception of "there is moonlight in the pine forest and crystal stones in the creek".

After lunch, we headed to the sixth stop today - Dajiu Lake Wetland.

The Great Lakes are the largest and highest alpine wetlands in central China. Surrounded by mountains, there is a stream and nine lakes, hence the name Dajiu Lake. Here, you are far away from the hustle and bustle, enjoying tranquility and the gentle breeze on the lake. There are herds of cattle and sheep on the grassland, and the surrounding hills are lush green. The water here is bright, the lake is like a mirror, reflecting the blue sky and white clouds, as well as the delicate flowers of begonia, which are quiet and beautiful from a distance. After leaving Dajiu Lake, I drove along the winding mountain road, surrounded by cliffs, deep valleys, and winding roads. In a daze, we finally arrived at the seventh stop: Xiaolongtan Field Test Station.

This is the base camp of the Shennongjia Savage Expedition; it is also the main observation point for golden monkeys and a wildlife rescue station.

DAY 4

Shennongjia Tianyan Scenic Area-Xiling Gorge-Yichang

The first stop - Yanziya: It is a pass with an altitude of 2200 meters. Pine and birch trees spread green on the cliffs, and the mountains on both sides of the cliffs look like swallows spreading their wings. Because there is the famous Yanzi Cliff Cave nearby, it is named "Yanzi Cliff".

In early summer in Yanzi Cliff, azaleas and lilacs bloom, and the greenery of the distant mountains spreads, making people feel relaxed and happy.

After breakfast at the hotel, we headed west along Jiyun Road to Binjiang Park. The riverside in the early morning is a picture of leisurely life. People living here should enjoy life comfortably, not be filled with repressed desires like the bustling crowds in big cities.

At 9:20 pm, the train finally entered Hongqiao. Being in a crowd seems like a lifetime ago. All the peace and comfort seem to be far away from me, and I will be thrown back into the busy life. But the wonderful memories of this trip will stay in my mind and comfort me when I am tired. The spotless sky there will erase the haze in my heart from my memory.

When is the next departure time and place? Maybe it’s Xinjiang, maybe it’s Daocheng, maybe it’s a scene that can be seen everywhere.

3. Even in the hot summer, Shennongjia is a good place to escape the heat because it is cooler in the morning and evening. In case of bad weather, you should consider bringing a down jacket.

: Preparation before departure

1. Bring a thick coat and umbrella, and pay attention to the weather. On the first day of departure, we looked at the weather and it rained for three days. On the day of departure, we found that the weather was sunny and the sun was said to be poisonous, so thick coats and umbrellas were a must. Went to Shennongjia on May 19th. The summer resort was quite cool at this time, but when I was playing there was a strong wind on the mountain and the temperature was much lower, about 15 to 25 degrees. It’s better to bring a thicker jacket (the pants and short-sleeved thin jacket I was wearing made my nose runny at night)

2. Prepare motion sickness medicine (preferably the kind that won’t make you sleepy, the scenery along the way is good). From Shiyan to Shennongjia, there are almost all mountain roads that you can play all the way up and down. When we come back

3. It is best to wear sports non-slip shoes. There's a lot of riding along the way, but there's also a lot of walking.

4. Of course, students must bring their student ID cards~ Enjoy a half-price discount of 269 yuan for the scenic spot pass (including Shennongding, Tiansheng Bridge, Shennong Altar, Guanmen Mountain, Dajiu Lake, and Tianyan Scenic Area)! That's $135! This ticket is for you. Don't lose it. You can go to these attractions within five days (it’s not clear whether you can enter the same attraction again)

5. The bus from Shiyan to Muyu only leaves at nine in the morning! There are only buses at Sanyan Bus Terminal, and the fare is 84. If you book a hotel in advance, if you are not in Muyu, be sure to tell the driver in advance. He will remind you where to get off and how to transfer.

6. The driver uncle said that their hotel (Muyu Town) has a car for 80 nights that can take you for half a day and 50 hours, and 100 people a day. But I feel like this one should be with someone else. You can ask for details before deciding. We booked a hotel in Dajiu Lake in advance but did not check in.

7. During the off-peak tourist season, the bus service in that scenic area is very few and has long since disappeared. I heard that there are only five major attractions in Shennongding Scenic Area, and the others are non-stop, and it seems that they only take tour groups. I don’t know the specific situation because I haven’t been there for two days.

8. When we arrived in Shennongjia, there was no bus, so we had to rent a car. The price is 400 yuan, but I don’t know how much it costs during the peak season. It's very expensive! Taking a private car, the driver was very skilled and the journey was not that bumpy. If you want to charter a car, I think it is cheaper to ask a few people (three or four, not too many people in private cars) to share the ride equally. The advantage of chartering a car is that you can stop at a small scenic spot to take photos, and the driver will wait for you. In short, it’s like VIP haha, but very expensive!

9. Dajiu Lake Scenic Area is on the other side of Shennongding. After visiting Shennongding, you can stay at Dajiu Lake and wait until the next morning to watch the morning fog.

(The ticket sales lady at the scenic area told me that morning fog does not happen every day. It depends on luck. We are very lucky.) 1

10. The earliest 6 o'clock bus to the Dajiu Lake Scenic Area. If you want to see the morning fog, you'd better get up early to catch the train. We caught up with the 7 o'clock bus and saw the morning fog, but the time was short.

11. Dajiu Lake Scenic Area still costs 60 yuan.

If you go in, take a car to the scenic spot. There is a small train (scenic area bus) in the scenic area that takes you 20 minutes and will take you to several lakes (not stopping at every lake).

12. The bus from Dajiu Lake to Muyu disappears at 8:30 in the morning, or we can charter a bus to Muyu for 400. Several people can consider it together, but the bus from Muyu to Shiyan only leaves at 8:30 in the morning. You can choose to go back to Muyu to visit Tianshengqiao, Shennongtan and other attractions. Stay one night and then take the bus back to Shiyan.

13. We stayed at Dajiu Lake until noon the next day, so we chose to stay in the hotel for one more night. The next day, there was a 7:00 bus from Pingqian Ancient Town (outside Dajiu Lake where we lived) to Baisong Town (the largest town in Shennongjia), which arrived at about 10:00. We took the 11:30 bus (the last bus back to Shiyan, fare 70) and arrived around 4pm.

The Shennongding Scenic Area departed from Shiyan at 9:00 in the morning and stopped at a small restaurant for dinner at 12:00 noon (a bit expensive, 15 dishes, 20 eggs, 25 meat, 2 yuan a bowl) meal). At around three o'clock in the afternoon, we arrived at Muyu. Because I didn’t make an appointment with the driver at a hotel in Dajiuhu in advance, I spent 10 yuan to take the inter-village bus to the transfer center. There was no bus before 4 o’clock, so I had to spend 400 yuan.

Stay in a hotel outside the Dajiu Lake Scenic Area at night, the price is 78 in the off-season.

The prices of the dishes are more expensive, but the prices there are basically the same. I thought it would be cheaper to find a small restaurant that night, but I didn't expect it to be very expensive and the taste was not good. I recommend eating at a better restaurant, the price should be about the same.
