The difference between long summer and early summer
Long summer is one of the 24 solar terms and a traditional folk festival. And early summer just means that summer has just arrived, and it has no special significance.
2, the time is different
When the sun reaches 45 degrees longitude, it is a long summer, usually on May 5 or 6 of the Gregorian calendar every year; Early summer refers to a period of time when summer begins, probably in May of the solar calendar, and there is no specific time.
3. Different customs
In the long summer, there are traditional customs such as welcoming summer, tasting new things, breaking eggs and weighing. There are no customs in early summer.
Long summer, as the first solar term in summer, indicates the change of seasons and represents the official beginning of summer. In ancient times, people attached great importance to the customs and habits of long summer. In summer, there would be a sacrificial ceremony of "Long summer, welcoming summer in the southern suburbs, and offering sacrifices to Zhu Rong and Chi Di".
If summer is divided into three stages, namely Xia Meng, midsummer and late summer, Xia Meng is what we often call early summer, and midsummer is midsummer. According to the Gregorian calendar, Xia Meng is about May, midsummer is June, and the last month of summer is July. Because the sun shines directly on the Tropic of Cancer from the summer solstice, June in the solar calendar is midsummer, but in the northern hemisphere, the hottest month is actually July.
