Cheng Siyuan Binyang Former Residence

Among the "Eight Scenes of Binyang" in the Ming Dynasty, there is a scene called "The sunrise makes a hero on the stone wall". The "sunrise stone wall" referred to in this scene is the mountain wall around Da Qiao Town, Binyang County, which shows that there are outstanding people and talented people here. Mr. Cheng Siyuan, Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC), was born in Dacheng Village, Da Qiao Town.

After the liberation of the mainland, Li Zongren moved overseas, and under the inspiration of the United front of China's * * * production party, he had the idea of returning to the roots. Entrusted by Li Zongren, Cheng Siyuan went to Beijing several times to talk with the United Front Work Department of China's Producer Party, and finally 1965 helped Mr. Li Zongren and his wife, Ms. Guo Dejie, return to the motherland, causing great shock on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. When Li Zongren returned home, Zhou Enlai, He Long, Peng Zhen, Guo Moruo and other party and state leaders personally greeted him at the Capital Airport. Cheng Siyuan played an important role in the return of Li Zongren.

The former residence of Cheng Siyuan, which we saw, was newly built on the original homestead, basically maintaining the pastoral style of Binyang. A village road runs between the house and the field. When Cheng Siyuan was a child, he touched loach and caught crickets in the ditch beside the field. Today, it has become a tourist attraction in Binyang County. It is also a great pleasure for tourists to visit Dacheng Village and learn about the legendary life and scenery of Cheng Siyuan.
