On that sunny day, my father drove my family to Hongqi Canal Memorial Hall at noon. Walking into the museum, I saw many realistic models, vivid objects, precious historical photos and detailed information introduction. Suddenly, I deeply felt the arduous course of people building the Hongqi Canal at that time-it turned out that the origin of the Hongqi Canal was like this: Linzhou was called Linxian in the past, and there was no water in Linxian at that time, so everyone had to go to the river more than ten kilometers away from the village to carry water. In order to change the situation of not drinking water, they planned to dig a canal to divert water. Through the unremitting efforts of people at that time, the problem of local water shortage was finally solved, ending the miserable history of Linzhou, which had been suffering from drought for ten years and water was as expensive as oil.
In the memorial hall, standing next to the sand table model of the whole scenic spot of Hongqi Canal, I feel that "she" is like a jade belt, winding and flowing in the cliffs of Taihang Mountain, which is an unforgettable historical witness before our eyes. Linzhou has many mountains and little water, and the soil is thin and thick with stones. When there is a drought, residents wait for water. Some women and children take water more than ten kilometers away, and people and animals are exhausted. . How great is the survival pressure of people in Linxian County of old China in the face of dry drinking water. In February 196, shortly after the founding of New China, people in Linxian County, under the leadership of Yang Gui, secretary of the county party committee, were not afraid of hardship, fatigue, cold winter and heat, and worked in the dark every morning. They didn't bow to the poor living environment and didn't complain about their environment. For several years, they lived in tents on cliffs, stayed in caves, ate pickles for three meals a day, chewed steamed bread, and had no tools. With hammers, steel drills and hands, they dug holes in every mountain, bridged ditches, cut mountains and split roads, and overcame all kinds of difficulties. By 1969, they successfully completed the construction of a 1,5-kilometer-long Red Flag Canal on the cliffs of Taihang Mountain with sweat and blood, known as the "China Water Great Wall" water conservancy project. In the afternoon, along the rugged mountain road, we passed Chuangye Cave, Tuanjie Cave, Hukou Cliff and Yixiantian, and came to the most famous scenic spot Youth Cave in Hongqi Canal. This hole is the throat project of the whole Hongqi Canal. The stone on the mountain is as hard as steel. When it is hammered down, only a spot can be left. At the most difficult time of the project, a commando team composed of more than 3 young men and women persisted in the construction day and night in the spirit of "foolish men move mountains".
