What is the disease of corn cob?

Corn bacterial wilt, also known as corn stalk rot, is an important soil-borne fungal disease that harms the roots and stems of corn. The incidence rate is generally above 30%. Once bacterial wilt occurs, the whole plant will die quickly, usually only 5~8 days, and 2~3 days quickly.

At present, it has occurred in Guangxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Shandong, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Hebei, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Tianjin, Beijing and other places in China, and has become a major disease in corn production.

The severity of bacterial wilt is related to maize varieties, growth period, planting density, field irrigation and drainage, climatic conditions and so on. It usually happens before and after corn milk is cooked, especially when the planting density is high, the weather is hot, it rains heavily and there is water in the field. The most common thing is that it is sunny after rain and occurs when the sun is exposed.

Preventive and control measures

1. Rational rotation: the seriously ill plots rotate with crops such as soybeans, sweet potatoes and peanuts to reduce continuous cropping.

2. Selection of disease-resistant varieties: Planting disease-resistant varieties is the most economical and effective control measure.

3. Eliminate the sick and disabled in time and burn them centrally. Deeply digging the soil after harvest can also reduce and control the source of infection.

4. The combination of intertillage and ridging in the late growth stage of maize can enhance the absorption capacity and permeability of root system and discharge the accumulated water in the field in time.

5. Seed treatment: the seed coating agent is coated, because the seed coating agent contains bactericidal components and trace elements, and the general dosage is 1/40~ 1/50 of the seed amount.

6. Fertilization: Apply 3000~4000 kg of high-quality farm manure per mu, pure nitrogen 13~ 15 kg, and potassium sulfate 8~ 10 kg to strengthen nutrition and improve plant disease resistance.

7. Use 25% Yekuling plus 600 times of 25% red yeast powder, or use 600 times of 58% red yeast manganese zinc powder to prevent it at the trumpet stage. It was found that sporadic plants could be irrigated with 400 times of metalaxyl or 500 times of carbendazim, and each plant could be irrigated with 500 ml of liquid medicine.
