Frequently asked questions about studying in Britain
I will return to China at the end of August. It has been more than three years since I prepared to study abroad in 2009. In order not to regret, I have done a lot of research, hoping to help you ~
I received too many questions, but I found that everyone's questions at different times were almost concentrated in those areas, so I listed them here for your reference.
First, about whether you can apply for a school.
In September, many people asked me this question. I often make a list of my current situation, what is right and what is wrong, my score is 85%, what time is IELTS, where I practiced, where I got many scholarships, and ask if there is any hope. If that's the case, I strongly suggest that you consult an intermediary. When consulting, you must ask whether these schools can apply. Although some intermediaries will tell you to write unreliable options in order to attract you, they will at least narrow the scope.
It's a bit far-fetched, but the last thing I want to say is that the ranking and average score of schools are the most important.
2 1 1 is also valued by the school. What PS? Letter of recommendation? Almost all foreign teachers know that it is basically written with the help of others, which has little effect.
But if you don't have an advantage in these areas, unless you win many weighty awards, you may attract the attention of school teachers.
Second, do you want to find an intermediary?
My application path is tortuous. I changed three intermediaries before and after, and I beat Shui Piao countless times with money. Some really annoy me! But in the end, I will say to find an intermediary. It's really difficult to find a good intermediary. I'd better make more trips to see how serious they are about their customers, ask others and try not to find a small intermediary. In fact, these are all platitudes, and finally the agent I signed was very satisfied.
Three, several offer, which one should I choose?
The most important thing in choosing a school is the course, not the ranking. I have received students about tangled schools. The first thing I say every time is that courses are the first choice, unless there are personal reasons, such as boyfriend and girlfriend meeting. Because we should make it clear that we came to Britain to study, to attend classes and to learn things. If we don't like courses, this year will be quite wronged. There are still many students who say that watching the course means not watching it. That's because you don't know him well enough Therefore, everyone should do a good job of research on the internet and find out whether this course likes learning or not. If you don't like it, don't bother to change it
Secondly, I think the city is very important. Studying abroad is very important. The more you watch, the more you will grow. I prefer big cities because I studied public relations. To understand many company brands and types of activities, big cities are still more favorable. If you want to study quietly, it doesn't matter to choose a small town.
Next, you can consider ranking. I think the comprehensive ranking is more important than the professional ranking. Unless that professional ranking can get the first place, forget it.
4. Is this major I applied for easy to find a job?
More than n people asked me if public relations was good for finding a job. Honestly, I don't know. All I know is that it's hard to find a job in any major now. If you want to find a good job, you can only improve yourself. There is no other way. Many times, finding a job is not an industry problem, but your own problem. Studying this major can't guarantee a job, and now is not the time for package distribution. I'm not an authority on this, so I'd better say less.
5. Are there many people in China? When I go, I must spend more time with foreigners.
Tell you a fact, there are many people in China! Especially in business, almost 95% of the classes are from China, some majors and even the whole class are from China, and only the teachers are from England. But we still have to face up to this problem, because there are many people in China all over the world, even in the Arctic, but the people who come to learn knowledge have nothing to do with the people around them, so we still don't have to worry too much about this problem.
Of course, there are many people in China, but it is actually very difficult to get along with foreigners, especially British natives, because there are very few British people studying for master's degrees, so it is good to have one or two in a class. China people and foreigners are still not easy to integrate, and the cultural differences are too great. Young people in Britain still like to go to nightclubs for parties. Although people in China can accept it now, there is no need to get drunk every week. So it's rare to blend in.
In class, almost all China people sit together, and so do foreigners.
6. Is it necessary to read a language?
I read Chinese for a while before I came, and I wrote my first paper when I started school. I still think it's necessary to have a look. But after a long time, I don't think it's necessary, but I have made many friends, and now I know all the people I play with by looking at the language.
Of course, it is helpful to get used to it early, so that you won't feel caught off guard in class, but in the long run, it will be helpful to your study. If you can pass IELTS in China, try your best ~ British English depends on the domestic foundation, and you don't have to expect a big leap in English within one year.
Seven, about the necessary luggage
I think the most important thing is:
Electric cooker (actually, you can buy it here, but it's too big to use)
Transparent soap who washes underwear (this is rarely mentioned in many luggage lists. It doesn't matter if I don't bring it, but I regret not bringing it, because I have to wash my underwear with soap and shower gel. )
Iphone, ipad case (in short, all kinds of mobile phone cases and mobile phone chains in Britain are much more expensive than those in China, and the quality is still poor, so you can bring more)
Chopsticks and a big kitchen knife (I like to cook with a big kitchen knife, which is quite expensive here. You can bring one, haha)
WSJ (I'm sorry I didn't bring that 340 mm long one, but I don't have it here)
Anyway, I'll bring something I'm used to. For example, I used to wrap my hair with that dry towel after taking a shower, so I brought it.
8. Is Britain safe?
To tell the truth, Britain is safer than China. But it is inevitable that there will be things like robbing money and things, but everyone should be as careful as possible and be vigilant so that nothing will happen. In fact, the quality of people here is generally high and the crime rate is very low. But there were few people, and the shop closed after 5 pm. So in some places at night, I will be afraid ... I feel very unsafe. But I am not afraid to go home at night 10, so it is still safe. Don't worry.
Nine, the weather in Britain
About the weather, I can only tell you the weather in northern England this year ~ First of all, it's windy! ! ! Secondly, the weather is very changeable, sometimes it rains and sometimes it is sunny. Finally, it rains a lot and often. So the BBC weather forecast is broadcast by the hour.
Besides, the summer here is neither hot nor short. Recently, the weather in Britain is very cold. Now the temperature in June is less than 15, and it is rainy. There was plenty of sunshine some time ago, but it was only about 22 degrees. So I didn't bring short sleeves from China. But when I come here, I will still buy some short-sleeved skirts and pass them around at home. It's still quite cold outside ~
Ten, about the cost of Britain.
British liberal arts tuition is a little over 10 thousand. For example, my major is 10840, and my living expenses are at least 600 a month, but it costs at least 800 a month. But the cost of living varies completely from person to person. So 25W RMB should be enough for one year. In addition, business and engineering tuition 13000- 15000. Anyway, every school is different, but they are all the same, so it may be a little more expensive.
