What is arowana?
Arowana, an ancient fish, belongs to the family Osteoglossidae, the genus Osteoglossus, a beautiful Osteoglossus (Scleropages? Formosus) is a red variety. The reproductive ability is weak, the female fish lays eggs, and the male fish hatches in the mouth. Among freshwater ornamental fish, there are four most expensive ones, namely orange, pink, crimson and blood red, among which blood red is the most beautiful and precious. Washington wildlife protection treaty 1980 lists it as a class A protected animal.
Arowana is called "Arowana" because of its two beards, shiny scales and its ancient life experience, which reminds people of dragons. In Southeast Asia and places where Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and overseas Chinese are concentrated, arowana is regarded as a sacred fish and can be regarded as a feng shui fish to ward off evil spirits.
