What solar terms does the Millennium represent?

Behind the Millennium is the autumnal equinox solar terms.

The autumnal equinox is the sixteenth of the twenty-four solar terms, and the time is generally from September 22nd to September 24th in the Gregorian calendar every year. On the day of the autumnal equinox, the sun reaches the longitude 180 (autumnal equinox), almost reaching the equator of the earth, and the length of day and night is equal all over the world (regardless of the refraction of the sun light by the atmosphere and the shadow in the morning). In ancient times, there was a folk activity of "offering sacrifices to the sun in spring and the moon in autumn". The autumnal equinox used to be the traditional "Moon Festival" (Mid-Autumn Festival), which evolved from offering sacrifices to the moon in autumn.

"Twenty-four solar terms" describes the white dew in this way: "Water and soil condense moisture, autumn belongs to gold, golden white, white dew, and qi begins to be cold." The ancients used "white" to describe autumn dew. After the Millennium solar term, the weather gradually changed from hot in autumn to cool, and the temperature difference between day and night gradually widened. Pay attention to increasing clothes in the morning and evening.

Autumn equinox custom

1, stick the bird's mouth

On the autumnal equinox, Hakka farmers have a holiday according to the custom. Every family should eat glutinous rice balls, and cook dozens, twenties and thirties of glutinous rice balls, and put thin bamboo forks on the edge of the field every day to stick birds' mouths to prevent them from damaging crops.

Step 2 fly a kite

The autumn equinox is also a good time for Hakka children to fly kites. Especially on the autumnal equinox, even adults attend. Kites are divided into Wang Zi kites, silver carp kites, moth kites, Leigong kites and Moonlight kites. The largest kites are two meters high and the smallest ones are two or three feet.

Step 3 send autumn cattle

At the autumnal equinox, people will send photos of autumn cows door to door. In fact, sending autumn cattle is to print the annual lunar solar terms on red paper or yellow paper, and also print the farmer's farming pattern, which is called "Autumn Cattle Map". The people who send pictures are folk singers, who mainly say that autumn ploughing is auspicious and not against the farming season. Every time they go to a house, they improvise what they see until the owner is happy to give money. Although the words spoken are casual, every sentence rhymes beautifully. Commonly known as "Autumn", Qiu Ren is called "Qiu Guan".

4. Sacrifice the moon at the autumnal equinox

The autumnal equinox used to be the traditional "Festival of Sacrificing the Moon". For example, in ancient times, there was a saying that "the sun is sacrificed in spring and the moon is sacrificed in autumn". Now Mid-Autumn Festival comes from the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival. According to textual research, the original "Moon Festival" was set on the day of "Autumn Equinox", but there is not always a full moon because of the different days of August in the lunar calendar every year. And the moon without the moon is a big spoil the fun. Therefore, the Mid-Autumn Festival was later transferred from the Equinox to the Mid-Autumn Festival.
