The structure of folk houses with hundreds of birds facing the phoenix

Located in Changliwei, the "Dafu Land" in Pan Gang Village, Jiedong County, Guangdong Province is a rare Chaoshan ancient building. The building faces northeast in the southwest, and was built in the late Qing Dynasty (190 1), and in the first year of the Republic of China (19 12), it was built by Jiang Wanli Sunjiang Jiansheng in the 23rd generation. It covers an area of 3,600 square meters, with a building area of 2,650 square meters and a main building area of 790 square meters. Dafudi is a beam-column structure, and the tile roof is surrounded by a shell mortar wall. The layout of the central axis is a three-way quadrangle-style residential pattern, consisting of 99 houses, which is a traditional Chaoshan residential pattern with a bird's eye view of the Phoenix. Dafu land is divided into three basic courtyards, with halls in front and back, and open patios and centripetal rooms in the middle. The courtyard has main entrance, study, gate, front hall, nave, back hall, children's gate, alley bag and so on. There is a moat and wind pool in front of the whole house, and the site of Genglou is on the left. Rooms and alleys around the front door of the building form a circle, forming a closed three-story square enclosure, which is 66 meters long and 54 meters wide.

From the main entrance, the study, the gate, the front hall, the patio, the middle hall and the back hall to the descendants of Longhumen and Baoxiangcuo, the whole Dafu Land is neat, steady and vigorous, with the architectural style of the Qing Dynasty and the local characteristics of Chaoshan, and is partially decorated with some western-style lines and decorations under the influence of the west wind spreading eastward in the early years of the Republic of China. The eaves and tiles of this building are luxurious. Rooms and alleys around the main entrance of the whole building form a circle, forming a closed square paddock with a length of 66 meters and a width of 54 meters, which is divided into three layers: outer lane, inner lane and main building. The whole building layout is well ventilated, with sufficient lighting and appropriate density. There are 92 existing buildings, the main entrance of which is a concave-bellied gatehouse with 12 rooms on both sides. These doors are closed inward. After entering the door, there are 7 rooms on the left and right sides of the courtyard, including 5 study rooms on each side. The noodle restaurant courtyard formed by the front door, gate and study covers an area of 720. The roof of the gate is a fake double-eaves hard roof with scattered beams. The main building *** 13, the front hall, the middle hall and the back hall are composed of three four-corner gold * * * respectively, and a "lion barbecue" and a * * * four-lion barbecue are built on both sides of the front and rear patios respectively. Form a pattern of one patio and two small patios. The fairway bag is divided into two layers, with 27 inner fairway bags, 9 on both sides and 9 at the back. There are 33 cigarette packs on the outer road, with 1 1 on both sides and 1 1 behind. If the whole building is added with open rooms between columns without enclosure, it will be 99 rooms. Due to the limitation of feudal etiquette, we had to build 1 watchtowers outside the enclosure, all of which had 100. Therefore, it is called "a hundred birds fly at the phoenix".

The main entrance is five rooms wide. The main entrance is engraved with the word "Dafu Di" in stone, followed by the word "Ke Qiu", and the inscription is "Ren Dong in the first year of the Republic of China". There are paintings and poems on the horse wall in front of the door, and wooden carvings on the melon pillars. The main ridge, vertical ridge and roof of Dafu Inner Roof are painted with gray plastic and inlaid with porcelain, and wooden fish, flowers and birds, figures, operas, gatehouse and belly stone carvings are decorated between melon columns and beams, forming a very distinctive art world.
