Yuquan Mountain is located at the foot of Xishan Mountain in Haidian District, Beijing, on the west side of the Summer Palace. The mountain trend is northwest and saddle-shaped, with the depth of 1300m, the widest point from east to west of about 450m, and the elevation of the main peak of 100m.
There are grotesque caves in the mountains, gurgling streams, gurgling springs, gurgling water, and a treasure trove of geomantic omen. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the palace water was transported from Yuquan and became one of the folk water springs. Since the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, it has been a famous scenic spot in the suburbs of Beijing.
It is said that when Emperor Qianlong visited Jiangnan, he specially transported Yuquan water by car for drinking on the road. At the end of 12 century, Yuquan Mountain was favored by the rulers because it was surrounded by mountains and waters, not far from the capital. According to legend, Jin Zhangzong once built Yuquan Mountain Palace and Furong Hall here.
