The origin of Jiaxiu Tower
The origin of Jiaxiu Tower is that during the Wanli Period, the governor of Jiangdong built a dike here to connect the two sides, and built a first floor to cultivate Feng Shui. It was named Jiaxiu, which means Kejia is tall and beautiful. This is where the name comes from. Jiaxiu Tower has been renovated five times from ancient times to the present, each time with changes. Three of them were major renovations. The officials at the time overturned the Jiaxiu Tower style set by the previous officials based on their own understanding of architecture and personal preferences.
Jiaxiu Tower is located at No. 8 Cuiwei Lane, Nanming District, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. It is located on the Nanming River. It was first built in the 26th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty. The building was based on a huge stone in the river. It has been added repeatedly in the past dynasties. After repairs, the existing buildings are the remains of reconstruction in the first year of Xuantong in the Qing Dynasty.
Jiaxiu Tower is divided into three floors, both with white stone railings, which are retracted layer by layer. From the bridge deck to the top of the building, it is about 20 meters high. The Nanming River flows in front of the building and merges into Hanbitan. , the two sides of the building are connected by a stone arch floating jade bridge. There is a small pavilion on the bridge named Hanbi Pavilion, with red beams and green tiles as a whole, three floors, three eaves and four corners with spires. Jiaxiu Tower is a witness to the history of Guiyang and a symbol in the history of cultural development.
