Historical evolution of Yunxiao County
In the 33rd year of the First Emperor of Qin (214 BC), the Yunxiao area belonged to Nanhai County. In the twelfth year of Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty (195 BC), it belonged to the Nanhai Kingdom; during the reign of Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty (179 BC to 164 BC), the Nanhai Kingdom rebelled, and after being pacified, it was placed under the jurisdiction of Jieyang County of the South Vietnam Kingdom.
In the Eastern Jin Dynasty, it was established as Sui'an County and subordinated to Yi'an County. In the Southern Dynasties, Song, Qi, Liang and Chen were still Sui'an counties.
In the twelfth year of Emperor Kaihuang’s reign in the Sui Dynasty (592), Sui’an was deposed and transferred to Longxi and Wanchuan counties, under the jurisdiction of Quanzhou (today’s Fuzhou) and Chaozhou respectively.
