The fourth nationwide cold wave is coming. What protections should we take?
When the nationwide recovery is at its peak, a powerful cold air has quietly arrived in the west of Xinjiang. It can be seen from the upper-altitude weather map that there is a deep red line across Central Asia, which is the upper-altitude trough corresponding to the cold air. Affected by the small teams it dispatched, Xinjiang has begun to cool down.
Next, this cold air will sweep across the country in five days, bringing the largest temperature drop this year: from Heilongjiang to Hainan, from Tibet to Shanghai. The Central Meteorological Observatory has already judged it as a "cold wave" and issued important weather warnings. This is a treatment that the previous boss-level cold wave did not have.
This also means that since December 2020, our country will encounter four nationwide cold waves within 45 days. Its high frequency and cold intensity are rare in the new century. There are so many cold waves. On the one hand, they are related to La Niña, which we have said many times before. On the other hand, they may also be related to climate extremes in the context of global warming, which needs further research.
Compared with the previous cold wave, the fourth cold wave itself is not strong. However, because the previous great recovery was too strong, the temperature dropped violently, which is equivalent to "steaming first and then freezing" , which is more likely to induce colds than the previous cold wave.
