The Significance of Wei Zihua's Poems

Main idea of the poem: I am on duty at Silunge, and there is nothing to write about. There was silence around, only the sound of dripping water from the bell and drum tower, and time passed too slowly. In this evening loneliness, I sit alone. Who will accompany me? Only Ziweihua and I, a Ziweilang, were silent.

This poem comes from a seven-character quatrain "Ziweihua" written by Bai Juyi, a poet in the Tang Dynasty. This poem describes a poet who is on duty in Silunge. He feels long because he has nothing to sit on, and he feels even more lonely because he is lonely without company. The poet vaguely expressed his disappointment with the boring work he was engaged in, alluding to the dull political atmosphere at that time, and then expressed his dissatisfaction with this atmosphere. This poem is simple in words and clear in narrative.

Original text:

Your papers are quiet and the bells and drums are long.

Sitting alone in the dusk, who is the companion, Ziwei Hua versus Ziweilang.

Creation background

The title of this poem is "Book Province in Middle School". The "Zhongshu Province" is the institution that the imperial court handles government affairs and formulates imperial edicts on behalf of the emperor. Because there are many Wei Zi plants in the province, it was renamed as Wei Zi Province. Bai Juyi was born in October of the first year of Changqing (82 1), and in July of the second year of Changqing (822). Since the birth of Zhongshu, he has served as the history of Hangci. This poem can be regarded as the day when the crape myrtle bloomed in the second year of Bai Juyi's Changqing.

Bai Juyi is on duty in Silunge, where Zhongshu Province plans to write an imperial edict. There is nothing to write about. He felt that there was silence around him and time passed slowly. He is very lonely, far from home, and expresses the author's homesickness. ?

The Silun Pavilion and the Bell and Drum Tower written in this poem not only show the characteristics of the palace, but also point out that the poet "sits alone" because he is on duty in the palace. The palace at dusk is a quiet world, which makes people feel dull and boring, as if the passage of time becomes slow. But according to the rules, the officials on duty can't walk around, which makes the poet trapped in a relatively cramped environment.

On the day described in the poem, the poet had nothing to do but look at the flowers and listen to the sound of carving, killing this empty and boring time and waiting for the arrival of "off work" time.
